VERY hi BLM's, but running VERY Rich

Note: This post will be somewhat detailed! Trying to get everything covered on one post!
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I ran WinALDL last nite, with some interested findings... I am not throwing any codes at this time, except for an intermittent 33 & 34. I have replaced the MAF which was in fact bad twice, as well as my MAF B/O, power, and FP relays.

When driving normal, the car likes to hesitate, spudder, and idle extremely rough with RPMS bouncing on the tach between 575 & 850.

When I plug the laptop in and run WinALDL, the car acts totally different! My idle is always up around +500, the car diesels extremely bad, etc.

Here's some info I am getting... ECM constantly goes from Open to Closed Loop mode - tends to favor open, if I remember right. It gives me a Rich Flag, as well as a Slow O2 Rich/Lean Flag. I often get a DRP Occured, BLM Enabled Flag.

The funny thing is, the BLM log shows the computer well over 145 which is lean, and the computer never gives me a 41 or 44. The Knock log shows knocks in excess of 175 at times.

I will attach both the knock and the blm logs here together, if I can.

Any help on this one would be appreciated. When I got this car a few months ago, I was getting a 36 & 34. Replaced the MAF from the AC to Bosch, and just kept 36. Replaced the replays, no success. Then checked that the burn-off circuit in the MAF wasn't even turning red. Replaced the MAF, and now works fine, just the occasional 33 and/or 34. These last few problems have had me going crazy for the past few weeks, and i'm going on a road trip in a week or so, that I need to try and get the car fixed myself, first, with the help of you great folks, before the shop!

The vehicle is 87 Z-29 (Z28) IROC (BZ4) with 305 TPI (LB9), 3.23 (GU5/G92) Locker (Replaced G80), Oil Cooler (KC4), 700-R4 (MD8/MXO), Fisher Option Package (YT9).

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

if the car is stock id look into. the O2 sensor. and check you fuel pressure that thing looks to have a lean misfire.cuasing the rough idle and gassy smelly. fp should be a static 39-42psi i think if your tpi and 9-13 for tbi.

Yes it is completely stock!

Thanks fun, I will check into the Fuel Pressure this afternoon! I am picking up an O2 sensor this afternoon, and will replace that as well! That is basically the only things I have left to do. I have replaced everything else, as I said, and done all the tests I have found on here. Everything tests okay... TPS, IAC, MAF, etc. Checked for vacuum leaks, and nothing so far. Would a bad O2 sensor and/or FPR cause the vehicle to constantly go in and out of CLM/OLM!?

I don't plan on doing too much with this thing. Should I really invest the extra non-needed money into an adjustable FPR if mine is bad!? Or just leave it be!? And does anyone have any feedback on HyperTech or Jet chips!? Are they actually worth the money!?

Thanks again, Fun... All :hail: to you, sir!

I have an '87 iroc TPI and also use winaldl. When I have the stock chip in my car I get alot of knock but the blm's are fine. When i put the Hypertec chip I have in most of the knock goes away and the car runs cooler. I just changed my o2 sensor and because I have headers I put a three wire one in. So far I can not tell a differance.

Hey Todds...

Thanks for the reply. So you basically don't see a difference between running a chip and not running a chip, except for the fact of the pinging going away, right!? On yours, did your car start acting different when you were using WinALDL from when you weren't!?
