found a TTA (sad, sad, story)

I know this guy that works at the local gym that i go to. I see him all the time and i know he drives around in a ratty white 90-92 TA.
never thought nothing of it. well yesterday I pulled up next to his car and i look over at it and i go damm, that thing looks like it could use a little TLC, well as i was looking at it I noticed some weird badges. as i walk closer, I go what is that? what kind of car is this? NO.....It can't be?!?!?! it's got that gold "fuel Injection" on the rear bumper, gold badges on the sides, and when i look inside I see this ratty red interior, seats all tore up, and a big "TURBO" on the dash OMG its a TTA!!!! I would have never had thought!!!!! how many did they make, help me out here!!!! 1,500????
I walked in and I walked up to the guy and said, in the straightest face, are you selling your car? I'll buy it off of you. he goes "naw.....thats thats my baby, i'm fixing her up, had her since she was new." (he uses it as a daily driver!!!!!! ) come on man I'll buy it off of you. (saying deep down in my heart, my bank is not going to like this, when i walk in there asking them for more money) he refused, says it has about 115K on it, and a new tranny. he tells me, "it's not a V8, it's a high performance V6. I'm like," i go "yea I know what it is I have an IROC, I know what kind of car that is." from what he said I think he doesn't know what kind of car he has
Said about 4 people in the last 2 months have asked him about the car. says he won't sel at least for another few years.
I told him i better be the first person he asks, when he plans on selling the car.
.....I just walked away................

Hey....

.. At least it wasn't a 1989 Turbo TRANS AM

I use mine for a daily driver, and it's still unique. Nothing wrong with driving a car you love in my book, but it was good to let the guy know you were interested.

90-92?
Gold "Fuel Injection" badge on the bumper?
Turbo badge on the dash?
Red Interior?

Are you refering to the 1989 20th anniv TTA?
89 TTA's did not have FI badges on the bumpers, red interiors or turbo badges on the dash's (stock anyway)

They had Tan interiors, a "turbo" badge on the taillights and only a boost gauge on the dash.

The fender badges should say "Turbo TransAm" and the sail panels should have 20th anniv emblems on them. Also the rear seats should have head rests.

Anyway it is always sad to see a beat thirdgen. I hope you can get it from him, or it goes to someone who can treat it a better.

Something about this doesn't make sense then. It can't be a 91' and be a stock turbo v6. Could be regular old v6 though.

Here is a pic of my 89 TTA. With 50k miles, tan leather interior & T-tops. The car is in excellent condition. It will driven on nice sunny weekend days & a few nights and stored in my garage forever. This one is a keeper.

If it is a TTA and that guy said it was a '91, he's a moron, and doesn't deserve to own that car.

And you go to the gym, I find that hard to believe.
