Well, Good luck on that one.

Take a Healthy one Before you run, hahaha.

Your gonna need some pretty favorable conditions to pick up .3 At that level, but its not unheard of.

WHen you get towards the traps, lean forward... lol

Yeah, no eating until after the track day from here on out!! And be sure to take anything and everything out of the car that can be easily removed!

Good luck though!

Take out all your seats and your jack and spare tire and tools, that's a good hundred pounds at least. Everything helps! Your time slip will say 10.xx, but it won't say your car was stripped

good luck
it's one thing to strip your tools,
and another to go ape and strip the A/C, seats, carpet, liner, etc
good luck again...
....you are running low 11s and with a stock suspention?

Hey 11sec91Z. Do me a favor and throw some street tires on that bad boy for a pass. I want to see if there is much of a mile an hour difference. I say street tires would loose about three mph. Any way, good luck. With that mph you should be able to run 10.85.

heres a trick a friend of mine would use sometimes in bracket racing to pick up those extra couple hundredths...

when he got to the finish line he'd smack/release the breaks real quick and bring the front end down and the front ground effect would break the beams and stop the timers.. probably wont help but i thought it was a decent idea...

With necessary weight reduction, it's of course possible.

With weight reduction and an a perfect Yank or Vigilante stall converter over the ACT, it's PROBABLE.

With weight red, the perfect stall converter, and full traction mods, its GUARANTEED.

I honestly think you can get 3 tenths by just faxing Mike Senia at Yank your dyno graph and elevation, and telling him you want maximum ET. He will build you a converter from HELL! Something with say.....2.7 STR and a launch right at your torque peak, that is perfectly matched to your gear. It'll be a bit less streetable, though.

I say that because I got 7 tenths on street tires in my C5, with a ***** soft hitting street converter. That guy squeezes more efficiency into a torque converter than almost anyone in the world from some exotic materials. But then again, you'll need ET Streets to do that, since your drag radials would spin misserably. Then again, with ET Streets, your 10 bolt would pop instantly as well.

Happy launching...we'll be following! Your setup and results are freakish bro. Good luck

Well fellas i got rained out today..So no chances this weekend..
I was able to get a new personal best of 11.39@119 with a 1.59
60ft on friday night..this is closed up on street tires no weight reduction other than spare tire removal..so im very happy with that..
ESAMS :MY Art Carr 3500 works well as you can see with my shortimes..but like you said ive heard the Yank converters are awesome but some of the LS1 fellas have problems with longevity...But a 4000-4500 would probably be awesome.Im going to make some changes this winter and that will probably be one of them..
Lethal: BFG DRS are street tires

Anyways gonna have to wait until next weekend to open it back up..ill keep you guys posted

You know what I mean! Put some 4.11 in there. That will keep you in your power range. That is amazing that your exhaust costs you four mph.

Well the exhaust slows me down so much because it is still the factory set up dual cat system(gutted)going into a single 3 inch pipe with a dynomax bullet muffler..So when i open it up it really breaths..Which explains the big difference...I cant wait to get long tube headers on the car so it will really breath on the big end

Do what I did. 1 3/4 LT Hookers, X-Pipe, dual 3" all the way out. I can't believe how your car 60fts on that stock syspension. I could cut 1.70s on some Nittos on the old motor. That thing only trapped 85mph in the 1/8. I still couldn't hammer it though.

Bro, 3,550lbs puts you at 450-460rwhp at 123mph. That is 576 at the crank with a 20% loss.

how is the streetability of that car 11sec? i have my motor apart for my 89 gta and am toying around the idea of just doing a budget vortec 12 sec street/strip car, or going about same route as you, miniram with afr's on 383....only problem is i wouldn't have a trailer available to get the car up to the track, and closest track to me is about 2 hours away, half highway half back roads. then of course money is another issue.

I have the same combo with larger heads and injectors and more compression. I am also running 1.6rr. I drive my car every day. I have no problems with it at all. On the stock converter with a lean condition and street tires with the distributor breaking up at 6,100 ( worn out gear) I went 118.83 @ 3,640lbs. I have the gear fixed now and the Vig 3,200 back in. I will make a trip to the track in a week or so. I will post a new thread with the times. I don't have tires yet so don't expect any great ET's. But the mph should be up there.

On street tires. I have run 12.03 @ 117 on the Vig when it was slipping like 21%. On the stock converter on the street tires I went 12.66 @ 118.83. But the distributor gear was hashed and breaking the ignition up at 6,100. I also had to shift into O/D at the 900ft mark. I got the Vig fixed and all the other little problems fixed but havn't been to the track yet. The enteresting thing with the converters was that the busted Vig had 4mph on the stock converter in the eigth. But the stock converter had two mph on the top end breaking up. I was gaining thirty mph in the last 1/8. On the busted Vig I put down 350rwhp and 452rwtq at 12.9afr at 3,900rpm. The hp didn't go up from there and the tq fell off like a cliff. Loosing all power by 5,600. The stock converter made 386rwhp and 384rwtq at 14.9afr tq and 13.9afr hp at 6,000 and 4,200 with the ignition breaking up after that. That was all before I had the valve springs replaced and took the heads off due to leaking head gaskets. I did a nother valve job and cleaned a lot of crap out of the heads and pistons.

I am guessing it will make 430rwhp and 500rwtq with all the stuff right and a good afr. It should run low 11's at 122-123. I will let you guys know when I get to the track and the dyno again.

Bringing this one back up fellas cuz im goin for it again!!!!!
I have made 2 changes..

#1 hooker long tube 1 3/4 headers 2210 s
#2 4.10 Gears

I finally broke my 3.73s so i thought i would step it up a bit..
And i got tired of my crappy header setup holding me back...

I never got to make a decent shot at the 10.99 last year due to weather here so this is why im bringing this back up..

Good luck. Let us know how the long tubes work out for you. Recently i had read somewhere that when on an LT1, they made little to no difference for one guy. I am curious to see if you were to get a decent gain from the new mods. You should be there though. good luck

Whats up guys,
good luck man

I need to talk you guys about this exact subject.
I have an 89 Iroc Z 305 tpi w/ 700r4.
I have 50/50 koni shocks in the rear.
3.73 posi
edelbrock short headers
arizona 1000cfm throttle body
msd 6 al
blaster 3 coil
weld rims w/275 60 15 in the rear (street tires)

my question is.....what can I expect to run the the 8th mile?
I have never drag raced before and my friends are talkin trash and it is time to put up or shut up i guess.
I know you guys are gonna ask why I have 50/50 shocks and have never dragged. well i had them given to me and just put them on....that made a huge difference in my takeoff from lights.

14.7-14.9 dont know what that translates for an 1/8th mile

Update.

Ok this where im at after the new mods

best ET 11.30....
Best mph 121.00
Best 60 ft 1.58

These numbers are closed up on street tires..I have yet to open it up ..I also am getting some serious wheel hop...so i have not been able to try to leave real hard yet...Im going to swap shocks this week and hope it helps and play around with air pressure on the Drag radials to calm down my wheel hop...Im hoping for some 11.10s closed up if i can get it to leave right..The headers and gears definatley put it deep into the low 11s...not sure if the 10 is there though?

Impressive times, did you follow TPIS recipe? seems like a proven set up.

what gears are you running? Also I know a relocation brakets would do you a world of good for hooking up.
