Photoshopped bird headlight mod
I took the headlights off an NSX (I know it's a no no to put honda parts on a gm but...) they only pop up about half as much as the birds ones do, I'm sure someone could make something like this in real life

i like it, what i always thought would be awsome for our cars is the 4th gen firebird flip up's... i love em. it would look so nice if you were to put it on the thirdgen.. especially if it had the RAII hood on it

just PM redraif or LT1guy (her boyfriend, but he helps out on the car). Either one of them should be able to tell you how they did the headlight mod... which looks awesome if you ask me

I've been looking into this matter for a while now. Besides the NSX lights, I also thought the 300GT lights could be used. There is only one problem with these lights that we are all chosing.... they are going to cost a ton of money. Unless they come in a glass bulb like ours, then about the only option would be to make a fiberglass assembly that could then bolt on place of the black plastic thing that our bulb bols into, that way it could be swaped out by a few bolts. There is a guy who is going to let me get some parts off their Trans Am they are parting out. I am going to try to get the headlight assemblys as well, so I can look into this. If I can get my hands on some of those smaller headlights like that, I'm pretty much homefree from there. If anyone knows how much these sort of lights cost, I would appriciate it.

I could be way off base, but weren't the '91-92 headlights different from the '82-90's? If so, does anybody have pictures? For some reason i'm thinking that the '91-92's headlights didn't look as bad when they were up. But like I said, maybe i'm just crazy.
I agree, if it were a kit I'd look into it.
Incidentally, here's some analogies:
Acura is to Honda as Lexus is to Toyota as Infinity is to Nissan as Lincoln/Mercury is to Ford as Cadillac is to GM.
I work at a used car dealership, it's pretty funny sometimes just how identical some of these things can be. Like how Mazda's use the same keyless entry fobs as Ford, and Saturn uses the same ones as GM and stuff. Mazda is associated with Ford (Tribute/Escape), but I don't know of any Saturn - GM connection.
Car companies are funny like that.
Oh, and I'd imagine any parts for an NSX would be VERY expensive compared to your average car.

Just for reference, the Acura nameplate is only in North America, everywhere else it is Honda. Honda NSX, Honda Integra, etc...
And yea, that headlight conversion looks awesome. If I only new fabrication and mechanical engineering.

Don't forget Hummer
Hmmm, I didn't know GM actually owned a part of Saturn, duly noted. Also, I coulda sworn Ford had a stake in Hummer, not GM. But having nothing on hand to back that up, I'll trust you guys on that.
And in the spirit of the original thread, yeah, I still like that headlight mod idea

I think GM is actually just pulling it from the American maket, they're gonna do something with in still in Korea and in China I think.
Hmmm, don't know about overseas plans, all I know is a buddy of mine from work was griping the other day because he bought a Leganza a few months ago, and now Daewoo won't be around anymore to help him out. Whether or not they plan on continuing operation across the pacific, I have no idea, but at least here in Texas (and I would presume the rest of America), he's SOL.

LONDON - An empty cargo ship collided Monday with a vessel that sank in the English Channel over the weekend, British coast guards said.
The Dutch Antilles-registered, German-owned Nicola struck the Tricolor, which went down Saturday with a cargo of luxury cars, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency said. No injuries were reported among the seven people aboard.
Per Ronnevig, a spokesman for the Tricolor's owners, Wilhelmsen Lines, said Saturday that the ship had been carrying 2,862 cars — high-end BMWs, Volvos and Saabs — and 77 other items, mainly tractors and large crane parts.
It picked up its cargo in Zeebrugge, Belgium and was bound for Southampton, on England's south coast, and the United States. Ronnevig said the ship was worth about 25 million pounds (US$40 million) and its cargo up to 31 million pounds (US$49 million).

I think it's cool as hell.
It kind of gives the car that Clint Eastwood look. "Go ahead... make my day!"
All you need is a S&W in the car's hand and I'd run like hell!!!!! :sillylol: It looks MEAN!!!!!
TFM4th..... I'd have to agree with you. That's one thing I always thought. The car looses all it's 'attitude' with the headlights up. "Know what I mean Vern?"

A thought....
I like Raif's headlights but not really how you can still see the old flip ups..... Do you guys think it'd be possible to do her lights, rip out the pop ups, and then pop on a Camaro hood? i think that would look really sweet. Are their hoods different sizes?? I'd imagine it'd be a major pain the the *** to remove all the old lights though

Just take a look at one of the graphics in the header of the website. The camaro hood is a lot flatter, where the bird hood has a larger arc to it.

That wouldn't work, but some fiberglass companies make a hood for Firebirds (can't remember if it was Unlimited or VFN) that doesn't have the cutouts in it for headlight doors. Its a pin on style though. I'm considering modifying an existing fiberglass RAII hood to delete the headlight doors on my car, which will have a similar headlight conversion but with the lights covered by a thin layer of lightly smoked lexan, to make them blend in more with the black paint. BTW any headlight door/cover for lights like these has to either be made to lift up with the original mechanism, or with the hood, for access to the lights for service.

For info on my Headlights, I have a page about the conversion on my webpage. Page 19. I'm working in more pictures and details. Site might be hard to access during the late afternoon and evening hours. Cardomain shuts it down due to Xmas shoppers bombarding their server.
I would have liked to do away with the flip up doors all together. Honestly I wanted to extend the Suncoast hood to do away with the pop ups, but I was worried about police reaction to these headlights. I was also not sure how well they would work. I still have the ability to convert them back if I ever get hasseled. Once RAIF is no longer my daily driver, I will finish the conversion. It won't be easy to convert the hood over, but I will do it.
