Very Sick/dead Bird

hey guys whats up...i ad to good trpi from NY to MI..well on the way to MT. Brighton i had a good drive...oil pressure was good...about a mile and a half from the exit i satrted hearing this ticking noise so i turne my radio down to hear it better...at first it sounded like a loud tapping on a tin kinda metal...i drove the 2 miles to the parking lot and opend the hood....the tapping (more mornounced) was coming from deep within the motor on the pasenger side....i looked at the oil pressure while it idled it was still normal...the knocking increased with rpms...so im thinking from me missing shifts (bad 2nd gear synchro)..and shootin the motor to 62-6300 floatin the valves and all that nasty ****....i have been very hard on it since ive gotten it, nevver spared it a beating..and its taken ieverything ive dished out...30,000 miles of torture and my uncle put 56,000 of abuse to....i think its caught up to me lol.....

by the way it sounds. a tapping more then a knocking i think its a loose main cap or rod cap...either way theres probley a couple spun bearings nicks gouges in the crank main caps rods rod caps....ohhhhhh lord
its out at my buddies now its gonna be towed by family monday morning to find out whats wrong.....

goddamn

later guys
Rob

Are you sure it is not an exhaust leak. That will make a tapping, and get louder as rpm's go up.

yea what riley said lol.....i wish it was an exhaust leak at first that what i though it was..but when i stepped on the gas a little it wouldnt go any faster...it lostalmost all power...i couldnt get it over 1800 rpm..it would idle fine.no missing stuttering..it was running on all 8...just a bad tapping nois coming from deep in the motor...

Since you can apparently isolate the noise to a side of the engine, I'd be tempted to pull the rocker covers and check the valve train just for grins. Main/rod noise is very difficult to nail down to one side or the other.

Have you tried listneing from the bottom?

Like Vader said, or maybe even a flexplate issue?? When they crack, they can knock like a cross between a rod and a bad lifter kinda..
