new intake fabbed *pics*
new intake fabbed *pics*
thought id post the pics we took (huge thanks to 89GTA, from fbodymessageboard.com, for the camera) here. forgive the dirty engine bay. it sat outside for most of the fall season and i havent got around to cleaning out the leaves, etc. that blew in under the cowl. also, i havent really had time to polish it, so it will look alot better in the summer:
its pretty straightforward. i use hood pins so the entire hood latch assembly was removed to make way for the 3" pipe going through it. it is covered by an aluminum shroud...
a shot of the shroud from behind, as well as the new griffin rad and spal 16" fan.

this is the upper intake piece, coming off the TB and encorperating the MAF.
heres a pic with the shroud removed. u can see a bit of the new rad mounts that were fabbed, as well as where the crossbar from the old rad cradle was cut and welded to accomodate the intake pipe.
a shot looking down into the opening under the shroud. u can see the rubber bushings that hold the lower intake piece firmly together, as well as the 3" cone filters that the pipe ends in:
a shot of the lower intake pipe taken off. everything is very easy to dismantle and reassemble making working on the engine very easy still.
anyway, u get the idea. i cant wait to see how cool that new rad keeps the motor. also, the intake sounds great (whistles like a blower when i rev it up!
), and i cant wait to see if it made any difference in terms of performance....
