ya but with the commander 950 tuning is sooo much more fun. change your spark map with the car running. now THATS power.
get data loggs of everything that your car does, from A/F to Knock sensor to Fuel pressure to RPMvsSpeed ratio. its so neat!

I know this sounds strange but I was thinking along the lines of just gettingit running then possibly running a 950 with the stock harness using a short integration adapter harness.

yes it can be set to use the "other" BAR MAPs

the 950 has a great boost compensation ability. its like programing a fuel map for positive pressure. very easy. you get it almost perfect on the first try. almost.

I just installed my Holley Commander 950. It was only about $800 from summit with harness, heated O2, and map. It reads boost if you use a 2 or 3 bar map. I had my car tuned in about 5 minutes. With the 1 bar map your table goes from 0-100. With the 2 bar map the map table goes from 0-200. At boost, your car uses the map area above 100. Tuning with the holley setup is a no brainer. All you do is look at the O2 compensation and adjust the value on the table that your car is using so that the O2 compensation value reads between 85-100. Heck of a lot better than going through the trouble of burning chips.

what he said.
its so simple. you rely heavilly on the O2 mod though, because every time an open loop value is a little rich or lean, you gota have somone drive the car to get it into that part of the fuel map and change it and try to get it where you want it. I do most of my open loop WOT fuel numbers slightly rich, and for open loop low RPM / High vacuum i run a slight lean. of course, my programing doesnt do much once closed loop kicks in.
Boy, it has some tough spots though. like coolant temp mod, I could never get it right because the water would heat up so fast that it was also a bit too rich.
and the IAC motor "rate of movment" was a killer too. too slow and the idle jumps around too much. same with the O2 rate of adjustment, too slow and the injectors would be spraying fuel for the previous moments O2 reading. what a mess.
I finnaly got it all pretty decent by looking at several different Base Maps for 350 engines, then sort of copy catting them and modifying as needed.
Initial tuning is a breeze. Finalizing the tuning never ends. I am forever adjusting my spark map and fuel maps for better drivability and fuel economy. theres always more power and economy to be had with further tuning. and its so easy, plug in laptop, watch the little green and red thingy, adjust as needed. two months later, im still messing with my highway advance and boost mods.
