Are ALL T-5's after 1988 World Class?
I just want to know if ALL the t-5'S post 88' connected to a V-8 are world class units. Some of the guys around here seem to think otherwise and say that RS models didn't come with them. Well, do they or don't they? If you have a Z and you really don't know than don't even bother replying.
Only post a reply if you really know your stuff or have had a RS with a WC unit.

Well I can for a fact say that my 92 RS 5spd is the same tranny as my 85 Z, both I am almost 100% weren't replaced, and I know my 85 isn't WC so I would pretty much say only Z's TPI engines got WC T-5's

AFAIK 88-up are all "World Class" (excuse me for a moment while I puke after typing that... bleeeaaaaahhhhhhhh...... there) but I have no "proof". But AFAIK, all of BW's production was the 2nd design by then; I have yet to see any listings for replacement parts that showed the older design kit for any car 88 or newer. But who knows, one or 2 might have snuck out the door with the older box.
Here's pics of how you can tell. Look at the fron countergera bearing, which is the round object on the front surface of the trans case. The top pic is the 1st design. It looks like a very shiny upside-down freeze plug. The bottom pic is the second design aka Wo.... Worl.... sorry, I just can't bring myself to say that stupidity again.... notice how the same part, barely visible near the center of the pic, is dull, and looks like its center is depressed, or like it has a ridge about 3/16" wide all the way around it. The 2nd pic is from underneath my car, parked in the driveway.

By the way, those of you with acute powers of observation shouldn't have much trouble figuring out why that 1st design trans is sitting on the shelf..... the pattern of scratches around the outer portion of the CG bearing was made by the bearing spinning in the case, which it's not supposed to do, and rubbing against the back side of the clutch gear bearing retainer (the rusty thing); and the stain below it is from the fluid leaking out. Those things indicate a stretched case. This one spent some time behind a 400. It is now garbage.

I have a 13-52-176 (metal tag) numbered T5 which decodes to GM 1988 F Car lO3 TBI 5.0L V8 WC
It's most definitely a world class box.

I really have no idea what the gears are like in that thing. I can't remember what that one came out of the car for. I've thrown away all the stuff that I know for sure is no good I think, so there's probably at least some good parts in that one, butI wouldn't make any promises. I have a whole bunch of tore up 1st design T-5 stuff, I'll look at what I've got ....
