EECS question
EECS question
Mine Haynes manual says that the canister should have from 3 to 6 hoses coming from it.. Mine only has 2.. and another fitting with no hose that says air.. that one has a cover with no bottom (maybe the purge) Is this correct or not.. should it have 3, or are they just saying that the air one might have a hose coming off of it but doesn't go to anything? Thanks for the help everyone...
3 lines, I believe.
1. Vent line back to the tank- the big one.
2. Vacuum line that goes under the TB and has constant vacuum (smallest line, goes on fitting on the charcoal canister that also has an electrical connector on it- the purge solenoid that operates under ECM control)
3. Actual purge line that goes......... I forget where, but somewhere on the intake manifold, I think and is the line through which the trapped vapors flow when the purge solenoid is opened.
You still have the vacuum hose routing tag under your hood? That's would tell you for sure.
I'm doing this from memory so don't hold me to all the specific details.

ok well there is only supposed to be 2 coming from the canister itself.. The one that goes to the purge valve turns into a plastic lines near the TB with a "T" fitting with 2 plastic lines coming from it.. One runs towards the back of the engine and the other is just sitting under the TB not connected to anything.. Is this correct?

Vader not know. Vader just pawn in game of life....
I'm guessing that it should be similar to my '86 TPI, which looks like this:

The smaller line (5/32") that connects to the hard plastic line should be connected to the timed vacuum port on the underside of the throttle body. The opposite end of this line is connected to t "T" fitting near the EVAP canister, whereupon is is routed to both the EVAP purge valve and back to the fuel tank pressure control valve.
The larger line (7/32") connects to the second fitting from the top on the right side of the TB. The opposite end of this hose connects to the upper (inlet) of the purge solenoid on the EVAP canister. The lower line on the purge solenoid valve connects to the other fitting on the purge control valve on top of the EVAP canister - just a short loop from side to side.
The largest line on the top center fitting of the EVAP canister is the vent line from the fuel tank.

There is an "L" shaped rubber fitting hanging down from the bottom of the TB on the driver side, but from what I have been told, that should not be connected to anything, and I believe that is the only thing on the bottom of my TB but I will check again.. Thanks..
