Black IROC rim

Anyone got a pic of black painted IROC rims? I mean the whole rim painted similar to 96 corvette GS rims.

I took this pic from '87-FAKE-IROC-Z site, hope he doesn't mind, but it is my car now.
Kinda hard to tell in the pic but they're '85-'87 style. Don't know how he did it or what paint he used.

why not? I have 2 grey highlighted and 2 gold highlighted rims. Painting them all black is the easiest and easiest to clean. Besides, they are only for my racing tires, not for the street.

I think black wheels look fugly. The wheel needs to have contrast with the tire.

I didn't really care for them that much at first but they've kind of grown on me. Actually they look better in person but I'm still planning on getting some black GTAs

You should strip the paint of them all and polish the vanes of them and paint the rest black so it's kinda the opposite of whats normally done, and if that doesn't look good then just paint the vanes too

And if they are racing rims then who cars anyways do what you want, the color of the rim isn't going to make you perform better

The very last photoshop looks ok. Painting the entire wheel black makes it look smaller for some reason. But I think charcoal gray is a nice wheel color, because there is still some contrast with the tire.

I have a black Iroc, with the gold stripe/rims. Eventualy I plan to paint them black the way that Jimmy showed in his third picture, only the silver parts will be gold. When I get around to doing it I will post some pics

The car in the pic BRIrocZ put up used to be mine.
I painted the wheels with high temp bbq pit paint. It came out pretty good, not too dull, not to shiney. I would recommend powder coating if you want the finish to last. I had to repaint them because it started to chip.
I really like black wheels on bright colored cars, I love how the spokes "flash" when they reflect.
Here's some more pics.

Black rims are ugly? Not on the right car. I personally think the ones on our Collector Edition Trans Am look awesome:

Official:

NOT our actual car, but ours looks the exact same (bad lighting here, doesn't do the color justice):

i actualy like the black on dark... but it has to have some other color to tell the wheel apart from the rim.... like leaving the rim lip silver or painting i w a different color.... well its rain rain and more f O K I n rain for NY....yay.... oh yeah powdercoating costs money.... lotsa unless u do it urself.... rattlecaning is a lil cheaper.... im taking this path due to the fact that my rims are a little beat up.... i was gonna polish them... but i said screw it... like i said pics to come as soon as i start.... maybe tommorow night...

I think it would look bad. Looks better if they are just polished or chromed. Ive got a ghetto feeling about black rims.

i used duplicolor black gloss engine paint... you could prob use any type of black paint... i wanted gloss.... and since its made for engines.... it has a temperature rating of 500 degrees.... bbq paint is prob a very bad choice... due to the fact its going on "finished product". from my exp w bbq paint (on a bbq) it isnt all that glossy.... any which ways... u could use any gloss black paint.... i chose to go with the somewhat expensive ****.... cause it was right there.... sooner or later im going to grand sport rims... but for now i like these.... also i know im ranting on .... but i didnt have alot of time to lay my car up... so i didnt prep the wheel... i just cleaned it real good... masked and shot... i didnt remove the clear or sand it down, etc etc etc... im prob going to regret this later on . hopefully after i get some "other work" done to the car... i take em off wet sand em... and clear em... there not perfect by any means... the rims are prety banged up... from previous owners... and one of em is cracked.... due to my great sneze (jewish) neighbor backing up into the ds front fender and "NOT WANTING TO PAY FOR IT". car pics will be comming in about an hour... or so... hope it doesnt get too dark.... kevosiroc.... nothing from you... holla back 'youngin.

All black rims look ugly. They should have some sort of polished lip to offset the black so that you can see where the rim ends and the tire begins

All black rims look like those winter beater steel rims.

If they are for racing use and not the street, I don't see anything wrong with that.

When I had the 85-7 IROC rims on my car I was partial to the black stripes and middle sections.
