I took a few pics of my new (to me at least) 88 Formula today.

I took a few pics of my new (to me at least) 88 Formula today.

Picked her up today at 1:30 and drove her 2 miles back to my house.
Here are some pics,

Needs a different exhaust, not loud enough and the tios look terrible.

You can see a little rust on the bottom of the door, no biggie though.

Needs new seat covers, those have got to go.

Will post an update in a few, going to get some knick knacks for the car.

not bad, but what happened to the Trans Am. I hope after all the work you didn't sell it!
You know I used to have a shirt that looked like those seat covers. Yeah, that was bad taste....

Those plates are off of my Trans Am and are real. I just put them on the Formula so that I could drive it the 2 miles to my house.
The Trans Am is still in the garage being worked on.
Installing the 4th gen dash, new timing set, fuel lines, etc....

I paid $1700 for the car.
Only problems are the turn signal switch is broken, won't turn off the high beams, fan switch might not be working since the fans won't come on unless you jumper the aldl connector or unplug the A/C pressure switch, drivers side headlight has stripped gears in the motor, the seat covers are ugly, hatch motor needs to be bolted down since it is a little loose.

It has 105K miles on it.
305 TPI, A4, drum brakes, t-tops, rear defrost, hatch release, power locks/windows, A/C (which works, btw).
I am going to be changing all the fluids, plugs and wires, dist cap, rotor, and then use it as a daily driver till my T/A is done then maybe mod this one a bit.

looks like it has potential, not bad at all. have any major plans for it?

in this past week, you are the second board member i remember reading about, who bought a red formula for around 2000$. in this area, that sort of deal seems to be unheard of lol

good luck!

Ya, but then I'd still not be able to drive. I am going with a 6speed, all digital gauges for the pod and the vents, and some other stuff.
So now I can do what I want to do to the Trans Am instead of doing it partially just to get it on the road.

I think it might need adjustment. I've never messed with drum brakes before, they look so complicated. I'll be converting to disc soon.
What should I do to adjust the ebrake?

With the e-brake fully released I'd check to see if there is a lot of slack in the exposed cable under the car. They may have simply stretched over time. If so, where the front cable meets the centre cable (with one end running from one rear cable, up to the front cable, then back to the other rear cable) there should be an adjuster.

Of course, I'm only assuming that the f-body parking brake cable setup is similar to the other Chevs I've looked at. I haven't had to look at mine yet.

Thanks guys, I'll check the cables when I change the fluids tomorrow.

That 91 Z is actually an 86 Z with the 91 gfx and spoiler.
It belongs to a friend of mine. He bought it new in 1986.
Thing is in mint condition.
10.5:1 355 with dart heads, 58mm TB and some other mods.
Thing is pretty quick too, will take an LS1 easily.

Awesome
I shoulda realized that, seeing how he has the 86 3rd brakelight. Thought he just swaped hatches or something.

Have you put any thoughts into painting the new bird? I think black will look killer, thou I might be biased

If I paint the Formula, it will be red again. too much work involved in changing colors.
It's easy when the engine bay is empty to get most of it the color you want like I did with my Trans Am,
Car was maroon and I think you can still see some of it.

Here is my Trans Am back in February 2002,

You can beat that I bought an 85 ws6 car for $1000.00 just this week in about the same shape except instead of the rust on the door the is a small dentin the fender but the car has just about every option. Then again I got lucky the kid had the car sitting for four months after buying a new one and just wanted rid of it.
