Thought you exhaust experts would get a kick out of this pic. original 1983 Z28 exhaust. I think the word is "very restrictive". But it looks good and sounds great! I ordered the car new in 1983. Needless to say I will never part with it.

Yea, it is a interesting design. There is a single pipe coming out of the cat and the it splits into 2 smaller pipes near the rear axle. Thoses 2 smaller pipes go over top the axle and then into the center of the pipe between the mufflers. I will try to get some more pictures tomorrow.

My 82 Z-28 LG4 4 speed had that exhaust. The intermediate pipe splits into two 1-3/4" pipes after the converter, then tees into a pipe connecting the two mufflers. Sounded good for a stock system, but seemed very restrictive.

Actually i was referring to the car. But I see no point in changing the exhaust until it rusts out. My stock '83 LG4 won't beat many cars today even with a new exhaust. At this point I'd rather leave things original than try to hop it up. There are a lot of fast cars out today. It is really fun to drive! It has been a great car.
