My car is all stock so I imagine it's 3.42 gears. Yes it's street tires, I did a burnout only for the show 'cause I knew my car wouldn't give the people what they paid for so I said to myself "I'm not very fast, so let's do a good burnout at least".

How did you do that burnout? I still don't know how to do one , and I certainly don't want to neutral slam my car.

my car, when stock ran the 1/8 mile (660 ft.) in about 10.7 secs @ about 67 mph. now, new motor has gone 9.85 @73 mph. i've done more work since then and haven't gotten to go back to the track yet.

doing a burnout.....in an automatic (even one of our v6s) push as hard as you can on the breaks then, with the car in drive, slam the gas to the floor. i like to watch the tach too so that i don't rev the motor too high...you can back off of the gas a little bit once you get the tires spinning.

press on the brake and the gas at the same time.

Not hard at all.

Pressing the brake and slaming the gas cannot be good for the brakes at all.

once teh brakes start to get loose, just let up your foot. Staging prep is usually water, so it's easy to do.

** On cars w/traction control, such as 99 GPGT, remember to turn the traction control OFF. I thought I had stalled in the pits one time **

btw, I take it your not selling it, or using the pics for a promotional campian

A while ago the timing chain broke I tought I would sell it, but now I don't know anymore it runs great I did so many things on the car. I think I have put something like 2000$ this year. By the way it's a 1989 Pontiac Firebird, auto transmission, V6 2.8L, 112 000.

thats a bueatiful firebird!!!!!!
Who cars if it's a v6, anyways sweet burnout but one thing...
I didn't know you do a burnout that way I thought it was hold the brakes slightly and slowly put the gas and then smoothly remove and apply the brakes and once the wheels start spinning you should apply the gas some more

quite an impressive burnout there. I don't know how to compare 1/8 mile since i am so used to 0-60 and 1/4. I have no idea if your 1/8 mile time is good or bad.

Hey man, good lookin car. Somethin isnt addin up though. I'm not callin BS, but maybe the slip was wrong. Did you let off around 3/4 track? I used to run an old Nova up at the 1/8 mile track and would run 9.6's at 75.** mph. 54 mph, that is more along the lines of a mid 12 second pass. 9.5 in the 1/8, thats a high 14 in the 1/4 mile. Your mph doesnt match your time at all, and with a stock 2.8, i dont see a mid 9 second run. My buds '01 Camaro with a 3.8, exhaust, chip, and CAI only ran a 9.9. But hey, i could be wrong. Nice lookin car.

Ok correction. I just pulled out one of my old time slips. At the 594 FT Mark i ran a 9.67, and in the 1/8 ran a 10.32. Crappy run, but that should give u something to compare to. Maybe your car ran a 10.5 or so. But 54 mph, that just doesnt sound right at all. I dunno. But hell, 10.5 isnt bad at all in the 1/8 for a 6 !

Hey, didnt you say that it was a 550 ft track, not 660 ft. That could make up for the 1.2 tenth differance in yours and the guy that ran a 10.7 Like i said earlier, on a 10.3 pass my 550 was around 9.1

That's because all the people I asked don't know for sure. Some say 550, some 600ft ... Oh well, I guess it's less than a 1/8 then

I've seen time slips that list 594' & 1/8mi, maybe that's what it was?

example from other post:

R/T .521
60' 2.206
330' 6.445
ET @594' 9.323
1/8 ET 9.962
1/8 MPH 70.42
1/4 ET 15.520
1/4 MPH 88.04

I'm on the right side on the slip. The other guy did a red light that's why I have won on this one. I think the track wasn't really a 1/8 when I compare my times with other...

Only in Canada would they make such a weird track. That is so short that it seriously tells you nothing about car performance. I thought the 1/8th mile was short (not the stupid *** eminem movie )...
