Racing a buddy with a modded GSX - Who'll win and why?

Strictly theoretical here, we were discussing this at work...

Scott blew the motor up in his GSX over the weekend, so we were joking around about lining them up and seeing who could push theirs the fastest. Here's the vital statistics...

Scott: 6'6" 200 lbs
Nic: 5'6" 135 lbs

GSX: 2700 lbs dry weight
Mustang: 2775 with fluids and 1/4 tank of gas

I've got shorter legs, so I'm thinking I'd have the advantage off the line and with his longer strides he'd start to pull me on the top end.

Of course, knowing my luck, I'd probably pull a muscle and have to coast through the traps

So who would win and why?

You'll win because of the extra drag of the AWD on the top-end
This is nowhere even close to being thirdgen related...
On a lighter note... 5'6 135?

The awd may hurt him, but with the extra body weight he can probably get you off the line if he throws it all right and then with longer legs he may just be able to keep ahead when the awd starts to slow him down.

Just crack open the bottle and purge in his face. If you really have enough laughing gas to kill an elephant, this should take care of him no problem. Then you can just take it easy and coast over the finish before he even comes to.

Edited for spelling

Went to the track last night....

I went to the track last night to run my car with it's newly installed Vortec heads and TES headers.

I ran a best et of 14.18 and a best MPH of 99.69 on different runs.

All my runs ranged from 14.18 to 14.348 and my MPH ranged from 99.233 to 99.69

All launches were babied out to try to keep spinning to a minimum. Sixty foots were from 2.11 to 2.26
I had Moates software scanning all the runs. I noticed a few things.

1st : The car pulls pass 5000 RPM with stock runners and plenum.
2nd: The accelaration seems to slow down between 4000 and 4500 rpm but then picks back up untill 5200.
3rd: I was getting Knock retard(Arap timing tables) so that might explain the above observation? I will play around with my timing tables next and eliminate all knock
4th: Even though my ETs varied 2/10s my MPH were with 1/2. Usually ETs would have a larger impact on MPH, no? I was expecting to see atleast a 1 MPH difference.

I haven't tuned the car yet for WOT. Just worked on part throttle stuff.
It still has the original YPipe modified to fit the TES headers(soon to be replaced) I also had a small exhaust leak which I am fixing tonight.

In all honestly I was hoping for 101-102 MPH last night and then with some work getting it to the 104-105 range.

Overall I am pretty happy with the setup, the car feels fast on the street(low end grunt) and still retains a completely stock feel.

I am optimistic that with a good YPipe, 1.6 RRs and possibly some plenum/runners work I will get to my goal of 104-105 mph. Along with some stickey tires that will propel me to very low 13s maybe even 12s!

Looks like some good runs you have there. Dont worry you will find the mph somewhere. I too was trapping 97-99 knowing it should go higher, and then found what the car wanted an now it traps 101-102 all day long, even with a hugh headwind! Its all in practice and seeing what your car likes. get some tires on there and you have a mid 13 second car!
