Throttle type cable from tranny

Tranny is a TH200!

Okay first off, ever since my car has been sitting with no battery in it, it will not shift, it will shift to neutral, but neutral is like before it even hits reverse. So like, ill pry it down a little and this allows me to move the car. I dunno why this is, I hope it works when I get the car running.

Now to one of the problems, I have a throttle type cable pointing up on the side of the transmission, it is in the engine bay right now not connected to anything, I have no clue what its for, can someone explain to me what this is?

Also, I have a tube pointing towards the rear coming out from the top of the tranny near the middle. It broke, but I have no clue what this is for either, thanks for the help.

Guys correct me if I am wrong, but the tube is a vent tube, The cable coming from the tranny is probably a detent otherwise known as a kick down cable.

On the 200 you would be right. The 1/8 in tube is a vent tube, make sure it is unobstructed. The cable is the de-tent, it controlls your automatic shifting, it connects to your carbs throttle shaft.
