Is this injector bad?

I checked all of my injectors with an ohmmeter and they all read between 14.5 and 17 except for the #6 cylinder that was only 10.3 ohms. Does this mean that injector is bad and needs replacing?
When I got the car last week the guy who sold it to me gave me a box of accel 26 lb injectors still in the box. If that one old injector is bad should I go ahead and install the new ones?
thanks!

If I remember right, anything below 12 Ohms is bad. Might want to search around though since I know there's a tech article on testing them somewhere around here... If I see it, I'll come back with a link...

BTW, 26# injectors are going to need a chip change to run properly in your car. Time to learn chip burning!

Vader says 12 ohms is the lower limit in this thread.

Yes anything below 12 isnt good.

I agree those 26's are gona be alot for your motor. wiht out some tweeking in the chip. Maybe sell em to someone who needs bogger Inj. and get some SVO 24's

even then the chip will need some work.

Always replace injectors as a set, especially when changing flow sizes. 26 lbs/hr is going to be way too much for your engine, you need 22 lbs/hr. You could always sell the 26ers and use the money to buy 22's.

Fuel Injector question.
I am a little confused about the ratings of injectors.
I just put a set of 26# 99 LS1 injectors on my 95 LT1 to replace the 24# ones I had.
The question is, are these 26# injectors rated at 58psi or 39psi.
I read that they are 26# @ 58psi, which become 22# at 43psi.
Now, some people are saying that all injectors are rated at 39psi.

Did I screw myself by getting these 26# injectors?Zepher
I just read this post, so is this true? If it is then I should be all right right?

I was figuring I would just put the new injectors on tonight and maybe lower the fuel pressure some. Okay?? or no?

You should really get connected to your car....What I mean is buy or build an ALDL to Serial connector and connect a laptop or PC and start scanning...if and when you change your injectors you will be able to know if you are running to rich, then get into chip burning and start tuning for injector sizing and EGR removal and the sorts....it really is worth it and you should start early during the mod process of your car because it's easier to learn this stiff when you are working on a relatively stock engine and seeing the impact of the changes you make along the way.

By the way it's cool that a women is into stuff like this...I'm trying to get my wife more involved but she doesn't really have any interests in cars....what made you have these interests?

Well I'm going to put these new ones in later today. Does anyone know what the green cap on the tip is for? What if I take those off? Does it change the spray pattern?

Thanks Poncho If your wife isn't interested in cars then I don't think you should push the issue.
I've always liked camaros and especially Irocs. I love how they look and I like to go fast too. Now I finally have an Iroc myself and I want to get a taste of wrenching and racing.

Do not remove the pintle caps! Change the spray pattern?? Yeah, as in rendering the injector useless.

24lb SVO's are rated at 39 psi... when raised to 43.5 psi are ~ 26 lb.

It's six of one, half a dozen to another.

Any injector change will require a chip tweak.
