Ramjet 350 questions

Anyone know if the new Ramjet 350's computer can be re-programmed for say fastburn heads or even a cam change later down the road? After figuring up the money I would spend on buying a ZZ4 and a TPI unit with all the mods needed for the ZZ4 I figured why not just buy a Ramjet 350.

My other concern and disgust is that GM used a freaking 2-bolt block for this motor. Why do they do stupid things like that?! Is it that much more expensive to use a 4 bolt block?

I have a Ram Jet crate motor sitting in my garage right now. Yes, the computer can be reprogrammed for the fastburn/Hot Cam combo.

I called Arizona Speed & Marine and they have already done this and will reprogram your MEFI computer for $350.

Im not so much worried about the 2bolt block, but its the cast crank that im gonna be worried about when im spinning it to 6000 with the fastburn/hotcam combination.

You can buy some splayed main caps for the 2bolt block and have the other holes machined at a local shop.

I heard this is considerably stronger than a stock 4bolt block.

i agree with formulajoe, i dont get it cuse 4 bolts are not really more than 200$ or so more.. whatever, i've decided that in order to get the exact engine i want, im gonna have to build it myself(when that day comes)

I had thought about the splayed main caps but the crank is another thing to look at that I overlooked. Thanks for the info. Maybe in 6 months to a year they will already offer the fast burn head combo so I won't have to pay for the computer to be re-programmed.

Did you see the latest GM HighTech Performance mag with the 92 camaro and the Ramjet 350? They said it would jump out ahead of teh new Corvette Z06 but the corvette would always reel it back in on upper end. Of course the 4:10 gears probably helped on the take off. That right there shows the fastburn heads would probably allow it to run right with the corvette all around and the hot cam put it ahead of it.

mark, go over to www.tunedport.com , they have the set up, minus the fuel rails, dunno when those will be available

No one has done it yet, but since the Ramjet is an SD setup, it is possible to convert the Ramjet to the SD TPI's ecm 7730. Just have to learn to burn an eprom or get a custom.

Another alternative, especially if you have an SD TPI already.

When I was looking into the Ram Jet option, I asked Scoggin Dickey and Sallee Chevrolet if they ever planned on offering the COMPLETE Ram Jet intake seperately(Intake, Fuel Rails, Injectors, computer, etc) they said they were working on it but didnt know how long it would be or how much.

The yellow RS in GMHTP seems a little quick to me. 13.0 @103. Most cars running 13.0s are doing it at like 107-109MPH on radials. They must have had some excellent short times.
