10 weeks later and no camshaft :(

I ordered it through a seller in the States (via ebay) about 10 weeks ago. He sent it USPS and uninsured. I haven't seen a sausage, let alone a camshaft !

I've used square trade and he is being helpful but the fact remains that I haven't got my goods. I'm not covered by PayPal anymore as it's over 30 days ( I was initially told 6- 8 weeks) So my question is do you think I have lost any chance of getting cash or cam? Should the owness be on him to re-ship? Anyone had similar experiences where the thing has turned up after 10 weeks?

I am spewing here. Not happy!!

Felix

Felix:- Sorry to hear of your troubles mate. :-( Not good. A few questions for you.

Was it a private seller or a registered US company?

How long did they say shipping would take? Why wasn't it insured?

Can he prove it has been sent through UPS? Receipts or anything? As in do you have a claim against them?

I haven't seen a sausage, let alone a camshaft !
LOL, I'm thinking of those who haven't heard that expression before! Imagining recieving a sausage in the mail!

I don't know much about the specifics of Square Trade and PayPals policies. At what stage did you make them aware that it had not yet arrived? If the delivery estimate was over 30-days then perhaps you could ask them if they will make you a special case.

I'm sad to say it but I don't think this guy is going to come through with the cash or cam :-(

I hope it works out for you. Will you now buy the cam from elsewhere? Summit Racing or a store over here perhaps?

Thanks Gordon,

I'll answer your questions. I hope the little one is doing well!!

It was a small business, which is expanding- he is now called f-body warehouse. Reputation is very important to him...

He said shipping would be 6-8 weeks. Apparantly he couldn't get insurance if sent UPS?

I will ask about receipts. I'm worried he is trying to stretch to 90 days so I can't leave him negative feedback...

Square trade is one of those faceless online organisations, whereby it is impossible to get to speak to someone. All are automated e-mails....

If I can't get the cash or cam then my car will have to go 42 hp short this year.......

Life can be harsh sometimes.... Money is VERY tight these days..

Take care,
Felix

Hi Felix,
Sorry to hear about your troubles.I've been stitched by a bloke in Norway for 50 quids of cd's.I think the paypal 30 days rule is bollocks. To be honest I've spent thousands on ebay and a lot of it is from overseas.30 days isn't long enough to set the alarm bells ringing and start falling out with people by taking out a claim against them.My Ford 9" rearend gets to me on Tues from an ebayer in the USA(I'm very glad thats turning up!).Like DR G said if,things do go pear shaped let us know the seller and f@ck him over on the feedback.By the way the guy who stitched me even left me positive feedback!!!I know it's a bummer but ask yourself would you re-send at your expense another cam which was lost in the post.By the way I highly recommend Scott Shafiroff racing in New York.I've just ordered a Dart 400ci block, eagle forged crank and rods and the shipping was only $300!!Hence the 350 engine is definetley up for sale.

Paypal 30 days

Felix, I had trouble a while ago when I bought a cpu from a guy in the UK who was selling them on behalf of a company in the US. Basically it all went wrong and the guy vanished leaving me and a lot of others in the lurch. By then, almost 2 months had passed ...

When I heard about the Paypal 30 day complaint procedure, I thought I had no chance, so I complained directly to my credit card company, sent them all the relevant emails etc etc between me and the "seller", who then refunded me in full after a couple of weeks. The credit card company then took up matters with Paypal, and that was that

I later received an email from Paypal saying that I should have followed their complaints procedure by going through them first, instead of my credit card company, even though it was far longer than the 30 days.

My advice ? Complain to your credit card company (if you have done the transaction via a credit card ), otherwise complain to Paypal anyway !!

The auction that I purchased from stated to allow 28 days for delivery, so I really thought I had no chance of a refund.

Good luck, and I do hope you get this sorted out ok !!

Felix,

Is their ebay name fpartswarehouse?

As said in e-mails, at this point I would consider it a write off. It's not going to show. I get regular packages from the East Coast and they have never been over 4 weeks vis USPS. West coast was about 7 weeks and by that time we were both getting a little nervous.

He said shipping would be 6-8 weeks. Apparantly he couldn't get insurance if sent UPS?
The only way he couldn't get insured shipping for UPS is if he refused to give a value. He could have easily said $40 declared value and sent it via UPS.

After the UPS comment I'd doubt if it was ever sent. Put negative feeback on his ebay profile and make it nasty. See if he gets in touch with you then. I'd also spread word about all of the forums, and I mean all of them. You have nothing to lose at this point of the game.

I also agree with going straight to the credit card company for a refund. Get onto that A.S.A.F.P.

You have an address for his business? Let me know.

Sorry about your loss.

Felix

You say that his reputation is very important to him, so what I would do is write a polite, yet firm, email to him explaining that you will forward it, along with all past and future correspondance between you and him, to anyone you can. This will include ebay, local newspapers (his of course) and anyone else who may be interested to hear it. And you'll keep sending them until you are listened to.

Unless, of course, he can provide you with adequate proof of postage and preferably a full refund/replacement.

The negative feedback is a definite in my humble opinion, and be sure to explain that it has been left to show you are not going to sit back and take it.

As a side note, a well-respected member of TGO sent me a package not so long back, and it did take a month or so to arrive. We were beginning to panic a little....we think it may have been customs in the USA, checking it over thoroughly....

Just food for thought, hope it helps you pal.

Si

Thanks for the comments lads. The latest is that he still has a receipt but he did BEG me to take out insurance They don't have to repay him in the slightest.....

The chaps name is Ryan Essinger. Anyone heard of him?

He is still getting back to me so i still have a glimmer of hope!

I'll keep you posted (not via UPS )

Cheers,
Felix

Getting back to you with what? There's no tracking number given at the post office, so he can't exactly track where it currently is. I rekon he's buying time.

The only glimmer of hope going on here is that he's hoping that you give up on him. How long have you got left to put in the ebay feedback?

What is his ebay name?

His id was esslincr1979 and is now f-bodywarehouse. I notice his last feedback was a negative too......

I will give him an ultimatum of end of play today or else I get nasty!!

Right guys. He ripped me off. He can't even show me a copy of the receipt. I have raised a claim against ebay and am now working to get some of my cash back. I am so peed off right now.

I will of course be working overtime to sully his name.

Don't buy from f-bodywarehouse, the idiots name is Ryan Essinger.

Just looked him up and saw 5 negative comments in March. He also has no items currently for sale, wonder if he's onto a new name?

Do you know where he is locted? Is this his webpage? http://www.fbodywarehouse.com/

Start hitting the boards. If this was me I'd go round every board there is that would have people there who could buy something from this guy.

Inform the credit card company to start getting some of the money back.

Where is the guy located? An address would be helpful. There's lots I can do to really irritate someone, but you're not being very forthcomming with the information I need.

Post every bit of information you have about this guy here.

Hi Rob,

His e-mail address is ryanesslinger4@hotmail.com and all I have on him is that he is in Charlotte in the US and he calls himself the f-bodywarehouse (more like Chicken shed)

No more info I'm afraid, there's no way I'd hold back.... This guy will have to hurt.... What else can I do?

As a recipient, you can request the USPS perform a search for the package. If you have a package or tracking number, it will help greatly. If not, all hope is not lost. Which shipping option was used? Global Express? Express Mail? Standard surface mail? You may have to contact the shipper for all the information he can provide. I'm guessing it isn't a huge priority for him, but is more of a concern for you, so he may not be motivated to track it down.

My guess is that it is held over in customs on one end or the other (likely, both). If the shipper did not complete an accurate customs declaration, it will take "forever" to get it while the package gets analyzed. Camshafts probably look and feel suspicious.

One thing I have certainly learned is that oil filters apparently look like grenades to the "scholars" employed by the customs services.

Some surface mail is taking forever at the moment, i posted a CD to a friend in Pensylvania a while ago, and it took nearly three months, and the bug deflector that i posted home to dad while i was in the US last took 6 weeks.

there is a slight possibility it is still in the mail somewhere.

Getting a Dart 400ci block, crank and rods from Scott Shafiroff racing delivered tomorrow,it only took a week! The shipping was $293 which I thought was very reasonable for the weight of the package. Also BBS designs are sending a turbo kit from Puerto Rico and it will take 3-4 days.Christ even my Ford 9" rear only took a month and that's after the totally **** shipping company GPS logistics messed me around no end with excuses and lies.By the way UK duty charges are incredibly unfair as in reality you are paying a tax on a tax on the weight of the item!

Hi Gordon,

Ebay have coughed up £102. I'm still about £70 shy of what that PITA cost me, hopefully MBNA will cover me for the rest?

Cheers,

Just out the blue got this message from Ryan 'The Liar' Essinger.

"What a great deal for you...You pay about $300 for a
"hot cam," but absolutely refuse shipping insurance, I have the e-mails to prove this, yet when the cam doesn't arrive because of your crappy European Postal Service then I am held accountable.

Now I am out a total of $600.00. $300 for the cam that I sent and $300 because of the reversal. I am currently working with an international attorney to see how this can be recitfied and researching EU laws in regard to VAT/Duties avoidance.

You weren't responsible enough to use suitable shipping - you should deal with the consequences."

Ryan

What an idiot. Like I had masterminded the whole thing. I paid legit for a cam (which wasn't actually that cheap) and get accused of being some sort of Outlaw.... What has the World come to?

The guy's an eejit - he doesn't have a leg to stand on.

Let him waste money on his international attorney - he must have more money than sense

Glad you're getting things resolved here, even if only partially

Definitely a seller to avoid like the plague ..... good that he's been banned !

Thanks scotia. Ended up getting it from Summit- took 6 days Credit card company also credited me back. Taking the beast in on Sunday for her open heart surgery.... It's been a battle just to get this far. Fingers crossed. I was hoping to get my MOT sorted too but my wiper stalk broke trying to get the darn washers working... Might be a insulating tape job...

As for Ryan- I can't believe he even has the cheek to e-mail me yet alone ask me to accept some of the blame. He'll get what he deserves.

Cheers

We are www.Fbodywarehouse.com
We have never sold engine hi pro parts. I know a few other companies have used a variation of our Email address but we have been around for 8 years and are only this year really getting into the 3 gen parts. Previously we worked in the 70-81 lines.
