Well first off I take a SOS pad or a brillo pad and clean the whole tire very well! Then I take the Extra shiney Armoral and put a little coat on! Works great for me!

Use a cardboard cutout to shield wheels, spray on some Armourall or SonofaGun, wait a few minutes, then use a paint brush to even it out. Hard to rub on without getting letters smeared black and that is hard to get off.

I clean the tire with some bleache-white... whole tire first and then the letters. Then after they are dry, I spray some armor-all on them. Works great.

Same thing basically... bleach white with a brush.. hose it off.... wait for them to dry... then just spray the tires with some tire wetting stuffs. Works great for me.

I dont think white letters look good on any car. I do however have white letters on my lifted jeep, but the next set of tires will have white letters facing in.

I dont mind the white letters.

I think my wheels/tires would look (more) like a truck if I didn't have white letters on the outside to mix it up a bit...too much tire already... why amplify it? *shrug* (Wheels/tires came on the car when I got it... never got around to getting more wheels... but I am keeping my eye open for some black GTA wheels now)

My '84 SC had 1" whitewalls! Badass... hahahhaa

Usually a scrubbing pad will get those letters bright white. All you really need is car wash soap to scrub it with. You can use the Bleche-white also, it's good stuff.

As for armor-all... I wouldn't use it. Try something silicone based like wipe-on Tire Wet when you're done. The spray stuff is good too, it just doesn't last as long. Armor-all sucks.

I disagree, I looooove the white letters on my car. I think they break it up a little.

Yes.. yes, I know that the car should be lowered.

Glad I could be of assistance .

I don't know if they sell it anymore but I always clean the white up with "Soft Scrub." I have a few bottles in the garage specifically for that. I thought I heard somewhere that they went out of business though.

Basically anything with bleach should do the job pretty well.

As long as its a 15" rim, I think white letters (like a Radial T/A) look great! They help with the muscle car look.

And I'm only 18, but I've driven something with bias plies

yeah mine are definately 15"ers... sometimes I wish they were bigger... then I remember that they came with the car and they are not ugly stock ones.

i too had the letters facing out on my old camaro...i think it looked much better than when they were facing the other way....it just differs from car to car whether it will look good or not

and to clean the letters, i always used a hard wire brush, it worked great

I use that Westley's Bleche-Wite whitewall/blackwall cleaner spray it on and use a scrub brush on the tire. Then I spray on the Black Magic tire wet and just walk away.

The tire's we're sprayed about a week before I snapped this pics, they fadded a bit.

Im running white letter tires just to be drivable, I needed to pass inspection and needed to sell my other rims, So now I got some Vette ralleys with trim rings with some old school, Belted T/As, Burnouts with belted tires arent fun, lol, I just clean mine with Black magic, Cause I could care less as long as it looks decent...I would like some 17s and blackwalls, so much better!

I don't think they look bad. Here's mine when it had 15" weels with the letters out. Kindof a retro muscle car look, I think.

The yellow is MUCH more aggressive. Looks like you're about to do 180 on the oval track.

Nothing is wrong with White Letter Tires

I personally perfer white letter tires and 15 inch rims. i think the whole 17, 18 rims have all been done too much. too often do you see the bling bling rims these days. i want my car to be a muscle car like its ancestors and thats what im working toward. i love the way it looks now. in the last 2 weeks it got painted black and the new rims. i can't be happier!

Beautiful, original looking car. How old is this picture? Haven't seen the Uniroyals in a long time. Probably how my car looked when new - sans T-tops.

Gosh...it's been quite a while since that picture was made. I got the car in the spring of '98. That picture wasn't taken right then, though. I'd say probably spring of '99 or maybe '00.

what the hell is that thing in the last pic, why the hell is their a wing on the roof. White letters look cool on some cars, mostly cars with big tires on 15 inch rims.

they are american racing outlaw 2 15x7 rims. a sewer lid caught it today and totally shredded the tire and screwed the rim a good bit. i have to go get the city to pay for the damage on monday. the lid was sticking out from the curb obivously too far and well you know how things happen. wish me luck. haha

White letter tires are freakin awsome on thirdgen 15 inch RS wheels! But white letters on IROC wheels and all other 4th-gen camaro wheels aren't all that great.

I'm not much into the shine on the tires, as I believe that they seem to collect the dirt faster with something slimey sprayed on them, but I do like the clean look of the white letters, and use Castrol GTX Super Clean on them. The dirt desolves before your eyes, just be careful to not let it get on bare polished aluminium wheels, or the wheel will need to be repolished
