hey how much is this thing worth? I have heard that they are rare and all and was wondering how much they sell for? Anyone know the usual amount?

Nah, it kinda looks like a wedge shape. Kinda like the new 5 inch spoiler Hawks is offering.
I used to have apicture. Let me see if I can find it.

You mean the Special Appearance Package. The Sport Appearance Package or option W68 was a factory option and the spoiler is the same as the base Firebird one. I think the whole package looks very good. Here's a pic of what you're looking for:

Thats the spoiler alright. Wow where can you find the front wheel spats? Any idea of what the spoiler goes for around here?

Those front wheel spats are pretty cool. They make the nose appear a bit lower and "stronger." I don't care for any of the rest of the package though. I'd rather the rear wheel spats were reversed and made into "integral-looking" splash guards.

I think it is very nice looking. A little bit of heritage from the 2nd gen TAs! I wonder how would a notch-back look with that spoiler instead of the base one.
Hello, (new to site). My firebird has this odd appearance package on it. Thought it was an aftermarket thing and went so far as to put on a regular flat spoiler and remove the spats. Was very surprised when I ran accross it in an old gm parts book a while back. Shows RPO code Z20. As a result, I stuck it all back on and think the car looks far better. Not a clue what its worth, But I doubt its much. believe was optional on base 88 firebirds only. Hate to use the word "rare" but think it is. Can try post pics if anyone's interested.

from what I am hearing, it is a rare thing. All I have left is the spolier. My dad bought the car, before I bought it from him, had all the spats(front and rear)but they were all messed up, on of the front spats was hanging from the front so all he did was tear it off and the rest were in the back seat so he threw them out. I talked to him last night about it. I needed to know what the hell happened to the rest of the car.
Post some pics man. Any idea where to get the spats? I would like to throw them back on there

Ooops, little bigger and fuzzier than I planned. damn computers. See if this is better. Think the only place your going to find those spats is to get lucky at the junkyard or ebay. Have original gm part numbers for that stuff, if it would help. Does kind of have 70's vibe to it. Imagine a full size bird on the hood.

That would look good. I do want the spats. I just need to find the GM numbers then.
your bird looks shape man.

Hope this is readable. I've seen no fewer than 5 identical white birds in my area and the spoiler and spats really set mine apart. Think your spoiler no spats combo kind of looks cool to. Good luck.

These Cars are very rare! My neighbor has one, said there were 600 made, only in 88. I have been looking for these pieces for about a month now for my car. If anybody see's them somewhere let me know. I don't care if its aftermarket or not. I would like to find them somehow though, and I know a junkyard is basically out of the question, chances are if its there the spats will be screwed up. I'd like to get these type pieces soon though, before I actually buy another wing spoiler!

Actually the spats are pretty solid items, would have to meet with a pretty high street curb to screw them up. The spoiler on the other hand sits flush on the trunk and seems to soak up elements. Mine had missing paint and lengthwise cracks, few bucks to fix. 600 made? interesting. Good luck on search.

Having seen a 88 with that package I have to say I really like it. If I had a Formula then I'd almost want that package.
But I wouldn't change gfx on my GTA to have the heritiage look. I'd pick up another car and do it to that one.
Here is a picture of one car from ThirdgenFest 04 that had the package.

Wow, found another old thread! LOL Does anyone know if Chevy still even sells/makes these parts? Not keen on the slats, especially with the GTA effects, but that spoiler is sweet!!!

These were pontiac parts, not chevy. Also, nobody makes these and they are impossible to find.

THe Package was the Z20 from Pontiac... for some reason in 1988 Pontiac & Chevy Swapped designers. If you notice on some of the Chevy SC's they used a low rise (as mentioned before) spoiler which is similar to the 91-92 Z28 Spoiler but Shorter...
Interesting indeed...

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
Heres a pic of a firebird I bought back in December from a guy stationed at moody air force base. Bought it for $400 and towed it home. Car came from washington state. Had 2.8 5 speed and still has all the spats and rear spoiler. Also has smaller body colored palstic splash gaurds on the front. I did not know of this particuler option due to incomplete RPO decoder I had. It currently has LT-1 and 6 speed setup. Going to have to be careful as to what to do next. I can't go back to the way it was due to original engine is gone.
Hummmm... thinking......

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
Personally I would keep the LT1, it will be more fun to drive, and the V6 no matter what other options will always be on the bottom for value. As it sits with the LT1, I would be inclined to give you more for it than if it had the original v6 but that is me.

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
JWilson, how does that spoiler look with those louvers in the back?? Saw them through the window and thought...i've never seen it done. Very interested in seeing if you still have them on the back of that car with the spoiler.

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
Well I'll have to agree with okfoz, The LT1 is more viable and since it's in there already. What the hell. Now as I see it , there are two versions for the formula, one Sport and the other Special. The one I have is the Special option Z20. Any further info would be appreciated. Trying to locate info is a bear to say the least..... Any chance of a VIN database to verify? More pics uploaded for anyone interested. One of them shows the body colored splash guards behind the front wheels. It also appears to have multiple panels serialized with the VIN number. Buy the way, Louvers are currently on back of parts car, will get photo when rain lets up. They were badly warped from the heat down here, trying to re-heat and reform, They were never installed.

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
Actually the Formula was a seperate option the Z20 spats and the special spoiler were NA on the Formula. It was a base Firebird option for 1988 only.

Re: 88 Sport apperance package rear spoiler
Hey thanks for setting me straight. Go that info from a search on another board. Yeah, I like it, just gotta re-think this a little, was purchased for parts car, had no idea. Since the suspension was mucked up a bit, might install Ausie 9 bolt (disc/3:27) setup I got from another 90 RS. Interior is in good shape for 224K. I'll post some more as it moves along. Thanks for the info!
