Me versus "Mallet" LS1 C5 corvette
Ok first off, Synapsis and mrt89rs, YOU ****ERS!!!!!!!! You left like 20 minutes too early. You could have filmed this for me!! This Arab guy in a pewter C5 corvette with weird headlights and a bunch of badges that said "mallet" (I guess its like lingefelter) chased me down on speedway and asked if I wanted to race somewhere. HAH Thats a FIRST. I'm always the crazy bastard that chases everyone else down to try and coax a race out of them. So of course I say HELL YEAH. We try a quick 2 gear run on Speedway on the dark section past craycoft and I pull an easy car and then it evens out. Suddenly the Arab guy driving didn't have the "LS1=invincible" look on his face anymore. Realizing that both of our cars are WAAAY too dangerous to be racing on the bumpy and busy section of speedway, he asks me to run him down past Wilmot in the wide open area towards Walmart. First run...we go from a slow roll....TOO slow for me though, I spin out and he pulls an easy 2 cars and stays ahead the whole race. GRRRRRrr I was pissed. We flip a U-turn and head back towards Wilmot. I tell him we need to go from a 35+mph roll so I don't spin out. We go from a 35+ roll......I start from 2nd but I can only easy into it to prevent it from spinning. This time I pull on him an easy 2 cars ahead because I wasnt' spinning. Just as I got about 2 cars lengths ahead I stopped pulling on him and he stayed right behind me but didn't catch up. DAMNIT!!!! I need more topend now!!! Grrrrr I hate close races
Last and final race, we both get a good start...well if you consider it good that I was spinning all over the road while trying to easy into the gas
but anyways.....and the same thing happens...I pull on him easy on the low end, and on the top we even out. Was a really good race. Thats probably the fastest car I've raced in my firebird so far. When we got to the light he told me it had intake, exhaust and some other miscellaneous stuff. It was a also a "mallet", whatever the hell that is. Anybody have any idea how fast those are?? He says he ran low 12 spinning the tires. The sucky thing is that I think I broke his car!! He was trying so hard to beat me that he was powershifting the crap out of that car, and by the third race all I could smell was burnt clutch when he was next to me. :lala:
Next time wait for me ****ers! I tried to film this race myself, but my idea of setting the camera on the dash pointed at him REALLY didn't work that well. The second I punched the gas the camera flew all the way into the HATCH!!!
Oh well. Maybe we'll see him out there next time. I have to go figure out how to make my car pull harder in 3rd gear so that there's no more "evening" out in races!!

And hey mike and eric, remember that old fox body red 5.0 mustang with the huge gay indiglo tach?? I raced him too, I let him think he won the first race by just barely giving it gas while he went full out.....then we chatted at the light, and I asked if I could have another try and I just ANNIALATED him :P It was funny as hell because his girlfriend was really hot and she kept smiling and asking me why my car sounded so loud and what was done to it, he said it ran 14.6, would have been a perfect race for you guys!! Also raced his buddy in the "fast" Silver 02 GT, hah, what a joke.

The LS1 powered Mallett tuner-C5s are available at 396 and 435 hp ... at least for 97-98:
"C5’s with engine modifications producing 435 horsepower plus suspension and brake upgrades. A fully prepped Mallet C5 goes for about $95,000, including the Corvette. Mallet rates the 435’s quarter mile performance at 11.996 seconds at 117.38 mph. Top speed is rated at 190+ mph."
2004 specs from Mallettcars.com list the 396 package at 475 hp, and the 435 at 500 hp. Engine is no longer classified as an LS1, IMHO, at the end of this mess, as either way ported LS6 heads make their way into the equation.
At *any* rate, that's a nice hint that your car really could run deep 12s if it'd hook and not break.
I really need to show up on saturday next time, instead of friday

Why is anything running a high 14 a perfect race for me?
And I'd like to note that I left at 2.30 AM, well into the "noone's doing ****" time. I believe the last comment outta you was, "I'm making one pass and going home."
Spinning at anything under 2nd: Get rid of the 500 treadwear tires! You don't even leave marks when you spin.
Not enough high end: What are those switches you put in yesterday for? :P
I personally want to see the airborne camera video.

I need to rig up a camera mount on my dash because I never have anybody riding with me that can film the races. Supreme Member

If the camera is in your front window pointed straight out, what would we even see besides the road in front? The camera would have to be in the other guys car so we could see you pass him!! Otherwise, if you have the camera ain't nuthin to see... Is this making any sense? If you had a passenger that would be different.

the camera wasn't pointed forward...I had it wedged up against the front windshield pointed at my passenger window so you'd see his car going back....
too bad it only stayed wedged in there for like 1/100 of a second after I punched it. TGO Supporter

He couldn't have been that surprised. You've got a 355 with a Comp XE284 and 3" duals no? Kinda hard to surprise someone with that. Must have heard you a mile away
I have an old (99 or 00) C&D issue that they tested the Mallett 435 at 118mph!

He was still surpised because I'll bet he figured it was some red-neck hot rod he was about to put down, which I guess isn't far from the truth, hahah.EDIT: damn the filters on this website are ghey.

Yeah, not loud at all. When I'm behind him in my car, I can't hear my own car. I heard his first race against the vette, and I was over a block away.
When you're standing in front of the car, all your hear is valvetrain.
Not loud indeed.

Oh hell yea, its so much fun when they see you in some "lower grade" vehicle and think thier gonna walk all over this and you blow by them and they have that "WTF?!" look on thier face, its priceless. They spent 45k+ on thier vehicle and you have about 12k into yours including the cost of the car and you smoke them hahaha. Speaking of vettes i've been trying to track down a white 2001 C5 here in town for a race, everytime me and my cousin see him he is always on the opposite lane. Can't wait to toy with him
