wow... i'm really digging the deep dish of your wheels and how reflective your paint is. I'm generally not a fan of those ram air hoods (from the side) but ur car makes it look good. It also fits very very well (in terms of the gaps).. did u have to do work on it to fit like that?

Looks sweet, I would say one thing polish your tail light lens, or they may be perfect you paint is so shiny that it makes them look dull in the picture LOL
:hail: :hail:
Did you do the paint or was it done by a pro
.:hail:

Thanks again...
The lenses ARE polished/buffed out. It might have been dusty or what not, but it could be that the paint is drowning them out...lol
All the paint/prep/etc. was done by myself. As far as the hood gaps/clearances, I extended and/or shaved at the places I needed to, in order to make it fit the way it does. The rear of the hood was extended by roughly 4 inches, and sloped inward to give it a "Finished" look. I don't like the way ASCD finished it off.
As far as the pics in the cemetary...my car was REBORN...kinda fits
lol

How did you handle the bumper inserts? I want to find a way to make them look newer on my car, been thinking about taking them off and painting them with fusion paint, but I just don't know how that would look in a few years.
Not a huge fan of mud flaps on a bird but with paint like that I understand the need.

I am not a huge firebird fan myself, only found a few on this site that I have liked. But damn dude, you have made my list with that car. I do agree that the mudflaps need to go. Other than that, well done man....very well done.

Man, you must tell me what kind of paint that is. Its beautiful!!!! Please, what did you use??
Dirtbik3r:
The key is in the prep work, and then the AFTER painting work (wet sanding/buffing/compounding/etc.) I used Dupont ChromaBase and ChromaClear paint. Devilbiss GTi gun was used:

Excellent job!!! the only thing I would change are those hideous tail pipes.. Make them shorter and maybe dont angle them down so much......I bet 4th gen tail pipes would look awsome!.........otheer than that, that is one bad *** bird!
do tell whats under the hood now? just a 6 banger or what?

MetalliCamaroRS: I'm getting the hatch tinted very soon w/ 5% limo. I think that'll set it off nicely.
If you guys don't know, mudflaps PROTECT the paint. I don't really mind them. I'd rather have the rubber flap beat to hell, then my lower fenders all chipped up...my two cents

I feel the same way as you about the flaps...I like them....better to keep a nice paint job than have rock chips all over the rear and doors....and the rock chips do happen!!!.....
not meant to be harsh in my earlier post...just honest....hell I dont like my own tail pipes...Im changing them...

that car looks awesome... but I hate mudflaps even though I understand why you have them on there and I don't really care for the tips either but you said you're changing them. I have one question tho... can u even get a little chirp out of those tires with that V6???
I can lay some mean rubber nailing it on a turn! It really doesn't chirp much. I can say, w/ all the mods I've done, I can spin the tires for crap...it's totally glued to the ground! w/ the tired old suspension, I can spin 'em all day long, even from 2 to 3rd, it'd squeak...
Aviator857: Paint on the car is about 4 years old. I just recently did the hood. When I did both, it was around late fall. That's the best time since the bugs arn't really out, etc. Did it in my garage w/ the furnace set to around 75-80, and the exhaust fan blowing out the garage door. Not much else really to it. Put the air filter on the gun right before the hose, and let her rip. So, that's my "booth", if you want to call it that
