Reverse Lights

My reverse lights come on right before I shift into reverse and then go out as soon as it is in reverse. Is there a way to adjust this?

Check the adjustment of the park/neutral switch.

Is that located on the automatic shifter inside the center console?

Mine does the same thing...try having someone stand behind the car and tell you when they go out. There is a certain "spot" in my reverse gear that makes the lights go out. I just slide the shifter to the closest possible location under Neutral...they stay on everytime now. Don't know if this is the exact same problem your having, but check it out.

That is exactly what mine does....is there a way to adjust it or do I just have to live with it?

Here is a chart for adjusting the Park/Neutral switch, the rig pin that they are referring to is a 3/32" drill bit.

Hi Trickster,

I am having trouble with my nuetral saf.switch too. Won't start - no fire to cellnoid even though everything checks out on the meter. I never thought about it till I read this, I don't have problems with back ups but my pass. side blinker stops working and then the next time I try to start up - I get nothing. As long as that blinker blinks, the car starts every time. I had not related the two things until now. Would your installation diagram be applicable to a 91 camaro also? If not, do you have one available for me for this year?

Thanks so much for your reply!

Hello atrapadame,

Welcome to the board, yes I have the schematics for your car. Couple of questions first, when you say the passenger side blinker do you mean the turn signal indicator? Also, does your car have the daytime running light option on it? Yes that chart posted here for the park.neutral switch would apply to your car as well. I meant to ask this in your other post but forgot about it, why do you think that your park/neutral switch is bad? Just curious here.

Hi Trickster

Arrived at nss purely by elimination of other possibles. Yes, its the right side turn signal. Thanks so much for your help. Nice to know someone out there, who is knowledgable, wants to help instead trying to prove just how much they know and how superior they feel, with no intention of helping us not so smart!
You can't believe how refreshing you are, after correspondence with psuedo-experts!

Thanks again

Do you have the pellet in the key and what does the security light do when you turn the key? Does it come on and go out after two seconds, stay on until key is released, or not come on at all? And thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Trickster

I don't have auto day-light feature. Do have pellet in key and security light comes on and shuts off after a couple of seconds.
I went out there tonight after work, readjusted the nss per your diagram and the car is running now!!!! The screws holding it in place were so loose you could turn them by hand. So I lined up with the hole, tightened them back down and presto!!!!

YOU ARE MY HERO and thanks to your help - my rs is the wind beneath my wings - sorry to be so corny!!!
