Got my car painted! Before & After pics
Well I finally got my car painted about a month ago. I went with black since my old 84 Z was black
I started on the 83 around March. Over that time I switched my old doors out for power window and lock ones
I swapped the whole interior out from my 84 and added a power trunk release. I put on a set of 91-92 gfx, high-rise spoiler, grid taillights, clear sidemarkers, red Z-28 emblems, got the windows tinted, and did some other little stuff. I got a brand new 91-92 front gfx off ebay for $1!
I did all the body work and shaved the antenna and took it to get painted so I am happy with the way it turned out. I got a custom fiberglass cowl hood that was made by John Miller. It looks sweet and is really unique, big thanks go's out to him
Here are some pics of the car before I started and some after pics

Wholly ****t dood! That looks awesome! What a transformation!
Save up for some new 91-92 rims and lower it a bit and that thing will be a definite head turner!

Yeah if I could find some Iroc's or the 91-92 Z rims I think that would make the car look better. Wish I could afford some 17" Z06 rims right now though
The cowl hood was made by John Miller, he is a member on the boards here(Jmiller). He makes the hoods himself. He used this hood to make a mold so I got it cheaper. Its like a 2 maybe 3 inch cowl and follows the lines of the Iroc/Z hoods louvers. Tommy, he is located on the coast here in Ca so he is pretty close by. I picked mine up during a gtg
I will set up a car domain page so I can put more progress pics and stuff.

car looks great with what u have done to it. the only thing i would have considered when repainting it was keeing that awsome looking set of strpes that was on the hood. they look really cool. it really would have woke up the black on the car i think

I'm likin' the hood- those rims normally are not my style, but they seem to look ok on your car. At any rate- the car is definitely improved.

Mike,
Car looks great! The red badges are a cool touch. Very nice paint as well! To be honest, I think I like the wheels. They add a "muscle" look to it. Also, that hood is AWESOME!! I want one! Does Jmiller make anymore like that? Could he make one with the Iroc louvers? How much did it run you? I really want about a 2 in cowl that resembles or looks fair stock. Ya know, like it came with the car. Again, good job with the car, you're hard work really paid off!!!

Brown to black - much nicer. What about the engine bay/door jambs? Did you have those sprayed too?

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I put up a cardomain page with a lot more before and progress pics up. I do have a camaro grill & a bowtie grill on the way and I will paint the lettering and bowtie red to stick with the black & red theme
v6camaro man, the stripes were sweet, if they were just red I would have definetly kept them. I think some red heritage stripes or something like that would look sweet. I had the trunk area and door jambs sprayed black but not the engine bay. I will do the engine bay when I drop in another engine
Gummie the rims have Enkie centercaps so Im guessing thats who made them. I dont know what model they are though.

Wow man, thats quite a transformation there. It looks great. I like the hood as well, haven't seen it before. The only thing I would do would be get some different rims (Polished IROCs perhaps) and lose the white letter tires, but its your car. Great work man

wow, looks astonishing! I think all you need to finish your car would be to lower it a bit. Sportlines would probably look superb on your car.

I got a bowtie grill a couple days ago. I just need to repaint it. Should I go flat black or glass black? I will have a red bowtie of course
Also what style Iroc rims would look better, 85-87 or 88-90? I may be getting some real soon.

that looks way better! My first car was an 84 Z28 and I cloned it to the 91-92 Z28 style..and it was by far the best move I made. That thing would look good with the 91-92 wheels, but I think it's screaming for atleast a set of 17's
What kind of shape is the interior in?
Looks great man, keep up the good work

Hopefully I can get it on soon.I would Love to put a set of 17's on and drop it with some sportlines, I just need the $
That will definetly happen though in the cars future. My interior is in good condition. I will get some pics up. I plan on making some alluminum overlays for the guages, ac trim, and shifter to wake the interior up a little bit. I really like your interior 84custom. The 4th gen ebony seats are sweet and I really like your cage

Screw IROC or Z28 wheels, that thing is screaming for something more like ZR1 rims or SLPs ZR1 sytle rims, or something similar...

Right now I dont have the antenna on but I still get good reception on some stations. What I plan to do is get a smaller antenna and put it in the a pillar so I can listen to the radio if I want.

How long have you been in Doha?I um actually got it painted at Maaco
I couldnt afford to spend a couple k to get a nice one since I got college to pay for. I did all the prep and body work myself though so it turned out good
I finally got my bowtie grill installed a couple weeks ago and I also bought some new foglights.
