Pro Kit or Sport Line's

Time for me to choose the drop height on my 87 IROC project. I will be selecting either the Eibach Pro Kit 1" / 1" or the Sport Line 1.6" /1.3" springs. Would like good, bad and ugly advice from those of you who have dropped your cars. Thanks!

Here's mine with a Prokit. It has more rake than the Sportlines and I think the spring rates are higher as well (715 linear fronts). There's a million post about this subject. Thunder Racing has a lowering kit with Adj. Panhard, Relo Brackets and Sportlines. I've had no problems from lowering the car and the Prokit is generally thought to be a better choice if handling is a priority.

Pro-kits. IMO, if you want to go any lower on a daily driver, you should consider air suspension despite the cost.

I just talked to Steve Spohn about this subject the other day because Spohn performance is coming out with a coil over package for front and rears for our cars. From what he said, this should be ready in the next few weeks. They are more money than the Eibachs but are lighter in wieght and from the testing they have done the handling is going to be much improved. The coilovers will give a 2" adjustment higher or lower from stock.

I have the eibach prokits and wish I had gone for lower - I never have any problems with scraping - ever - but then again my car is not a daily driver. If you like more of a slammed look - go with the the sportlines if the coilovers are not in your budget.

I have sportlines on a '91 V6 car- it rides a bit harsh but that was to be expected. The springs actually raised the car slightly from the cut stock coils that were in it when we bought it.

Click on my www link and go to the second page where there are pics of the Camaro.

I love my sportlines. it gives the car the perfect stance and the performance is more than enough to scare you.

what about clearance issues though. Im still deciding on either TT2s with 17X11 in the rear or 15X11 both with at least a 295+ tire. Will those work with sportlines?

jeffw what size wheels/tires are those and who makes your wheels? they look like a nice spin off of TT2s

Don't rush out and cut them. It depends on the coil count and the wire thickness.

I have very stiff front springs that meause aprox 12" free hieght and yet sits the car about 2" lower than factory.

The springs Dale mentioned sit the same car (lightweight V6's) at about 1/2" lower than stock.

not gonna cut a thing, maybe my knukles, but i think im pretty good
just wanting to get a new front spring set
want the front of the car 1" lower than stock, reasons,
-i think the rake effect looks good
-my stock springs have sagged prolly close to 1"
-better handling, i hope

im gonna get a 5" od linear spring with 650lb spring rate and the free height is all i have left to figure out, was gonna to 13" or so...
any suggestions?
as far a suspension goes on my car, i like the 1le irocs gonna follw that set up sorta, i have the 36 front bar, tds wnder bar, poly endlinks and in the rear i have new moog iroc springs and kyb's, gonna get kyb's up front too, the rear suspension is getting more upgrades because of the straitline performance aplication of my car, this car gets driven every day and doesnt need race car stuff or slammed springs...
cant think of any more

sorry for my lengthy input, but ask far as the original question. the guys here have siad what i think pro kit for perfomance and more of a street driven ride height and sport lines for lower looks and comfortable ride, but these lower the car to much for my tastes any way...
