Help Me Wire My Heater Box
Help Me Wire My Heater Box
Hey Guys i got an 87 camaro which i gutted pretty good when sintalling my carbed engine. The car was originally AC equipped but i have since removed the AC box and now have a Heat only box. I just chopped the wiring harness right off at where it comes out of the firewall. Does anyone have a wiring diagram of which color wires go to where on the heater box?
Any Help Appreicated
Thanks
Kyle

Easiest way is to use your AC resistor to reuse the harness, then run the purple (might be different on yours) wire to the plug on the blower and ground out the blower plate.

Ok thanks turd, i have the purple wire however my harness is snipped and i have no connectors on it, the resistor has three prongs on my box, any idea which color wires go to it? And does it matter which prong they go on. What does that resistor thing do anyhow. ( I'm not much of an electirc guy as if u cant tell)

Sure, I can get you all the wire colors tomorrow probably.
Currently this is about the best I can do for you. (Away from home and the car currently)

The following are smaller than the purple power wire:
Right column top most --> Yellow
Right column middle --> Tan
Right column lower --> Light Blue
Hope this helps!
Hey thanks for the Great pictures but it appears my setup is slightly differnet then yours.
Heres some pictures of my setup and my wiring harness (87 car with A/C)
I dont know if this means anything but on the backside of the resistor the top and bottom posts each have a coil coming off of them which each connects to the middle post. Total of 2 Coils.
Thanks for the help

Looks like you have the non AC resistor pictured (my PN is 14090309 for the one I have). That being said I'm considering you have a single prong wire setup on your AC blower motor that matches your non AC blower. If that's true then the wiring harness of the AC and Non AC probably is the same or very similar.
The resistor that came supplied with my 1LE box had the following wiring:
Blue to side prong (Labeled #2 on my part)
2 Oranges to the top (Labeled #3, the one the closest to the PN)
Yellow to the lower prong (Labeled #1)
The orange color is the power wire. You'll want to take the 2nd orange wire coming off the resistor and hook it up to the blower motor.
My black wire doesn't even connect through the main harness. It's just a simple Chassis to blower motor face. It's the ground wire. I'm assuming if you connect up the yellow, orange, and blue to your cut harness and run the ground wire it'll work. Course all bets are off cause I'm just guessing here.

Ok I understand your directoins for the most part but when you say the two orange wires are you talking of the two wires which are on the left and right side of the blue wire in my picture?
Im not much of an electrician here so please bear with me. Are you reccomending splicing these two orange wires together running them to the prong and then tapping into one of them and running a wire to the green switch on the blower motor.
And I'm assuming the small tab on the blower motor is a simple ground?
Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Looks to me that one is red not orange.
You need to run the orange wire up to the connector labeled #3 (there labeled for this reason
) on the resistor and then just run another wire piggy backed off the orange to the power connection on the blower.
The orange is just one wire off the main harness not 2. You only get the 2nd when you splice into the orange and run the spliced wire onto the blower green prong. From my understanding that's the power.
The green prong will be your power connection. You need to use a ring connector or something similar (I would use the connection you have under that screw in the corner) to that under a screw on the motor plate for the ground. So you will have 2 wires total on the blower unit.
