Just wanna say thanks

Some of you may know me some of you dont, my parents bought my 89 RS back in 2000 and ive loved it ever sice then. It was to be my first car in the coming months and ive spent the last two years working on it. Well tonight they went out in the car to run to the store and made a left turn and lost control into a brick wall. Thank heavens no one was hurt as it was 9:30 and no one was on the street at the time. Supposedly the rear tire was flat and thats what caused the rear to swing out and she tryed to turn into it but couldnt get control back. I saw it leave on a tow truck a half hour ago and couldnt tell the extent of damage, i was told the whole drivers side is pretty much toast and i could see that the front fascia was smashed as well. You guys have no idea how much time i have spent on this car and how much i cared about it. I just want to thank you guys for helping me out as it wouldnt have been what it was without your help ive learn so much from you guys its unbelievable, ill try to get some pics of it soon to show you guys...

Holy hell man, im sorry to hear about that... Did you guys have full coverage? If so, the best advice I can give you is remove everything you can from your car and transplant (if it gets totalled.. g0d forbid)

Good luck man.. I dont ever want to see my baby like that...

thats good of them.. that sux sooo much man.. How much did you pay for the car? I guess the best approach would be to look for cars that were in similar condition and weight fixing your baby to buy another car.. Buying another car will prolly be the only real option tho.. At least you are the kind of person who is more concerned about safety.. not "YOU ARE BUYING ME A NEW CAR RIGHT NOW"..

The paid 3k for the car and ive spent about 2k and countless hours out there enjoying that car.
Ive just been informed that the rear quarter panel drivers side is completely demolished, i think its safe to say it would be a more realistic choice to get another one and let her R.I.P

well, look for a great body without a drivetrain.. could save you some money in the end.. where most of your mods exterior (or body at least) or can they be pulled and transplanted?

damn... well, i guess the suspension can be taken.. ouch make sure you let us know (with pics) how bad the damage is... pull as much from the car as you can, get a new one, and what you dont use, SELL... make some of the money back, hopefully..

Hate to hear about that man, and as you said, luckily no one was hurt.

It hasn't happened to me (knock on wood), but I think that I can understand how you feel. It's almost like losing a part of yourself when you put that much work into something, just to have it taken away like that. I can remember watching my 16 year old brother burst into tears after he watched his his '70 Nova leave the driveway with a new owner back in 1999. He had got it when he was 14 and had it almost completely restored when he sold it.

Anyway, look at it this way. If you get another one, you will be able to put just as much time and effort into it as you did with your old car. Heck, you'll probably even enjoy doing it all over again. I think I would.

Good luck with finding another thirdgen!

Matt

I'm glad no one was hurt. Sorry to hear about the car though. I'm sure you will find another one soon enough and then you'll be at it again and you will get to show us another beautiful car.

***, that blows. That's why I don't like my mom driving the Camaro. Sure she bought it. But I've put too much work into it to watch her peel out every time she drives off in it...

Good luck with your situation. Maybe your car is salvageable. Some body panels may be easier to replace than buying a whole new car and starting over. But either way, good luck.

Hold it!

If it is just a rear quarter panel then just have it replaced. It is a LOT cheaper than buying another hulk in good condition and transferring all your good parts over.

Also consider having then work done at a technical college where they teach body work. You'll get very good work, usually, and only pay for the parts. No labour--you gotta like that

Seriously, look over the damage carefully before deciding to ditch it

You've got a good standpoint on the situation.

Sure it sucks that the car is wrecked, but it's a blessing that no one was hurt. Besides, thirdgens can be replaced; parents cannot.

I really respect your attitude on the situation. Everything will work out with the car.

Well guys, the camera is at my aunts house, so i dont have any pics of the damage, i sat down with my dad and we realized it wouldnt be a realistice idea to fix it. The good news is we got really lucky and found a black 91 Z28 and got it for 2900, its a real solid car and i am sure it was the right move to make. Pics of both will be up soon.

It still sucks that you lost your car in the first place, but I'm glad to see that you got another one already! Can't wait to see some pics.

not good at all man, your car was coming along nicely too. It's unfortunate to go through that, and if you did get a new one the sense of "now I have to start over" can be both bad and good. Nonetheless I hope you get another one soon, Im sorry to hear of your news
