How much $$$ is needed for swap?
Im starting to consider an L98 or LT1 swap but i was just wondering how much money this would take(no a/c). (I know it would depend on the price of the engine). Im interested in swapping a stock motor then working on it later.
TEXASLT1 how much did you spent?
Thanks a bunch.

Could we update with cost?
Since more people have done this, could we update this thread with what the cost of a swap tend to be?

Problem is they are all different. I would say 3k is a minimum. Also plan on at lease 500.00 for incidentals.

Well so far here is what I have into it:
Complete lingenfelter Super ram package - $900.00 (awesome deal)
Balance, blueprint, and assemble short block (including bbc oil pump, new pan, windage, crank scraper, rod recondition and polish) - $2,500
Forged TRW pistons - $215.00
ZZ4 crank - $225.00
Old school forged pink rods - $150.00
Wiring harness - $150.00
New Computer - $50.00
Custom PROM - $100.00
AFR 195's, CNC'd, ported, with serdi competition valve job - $1,100.00
LT4 hot cam - $100.00
Total thus far - $5,490.00
Still probably have about another $1,000 in little parts and that doesn't include the tranny, suspension, or rear end parts that I will need. However the above engine, will probably last 200,000 miles if taken care of, as well as put out 425+ hp at the crank. I am also using ALL new parts, no parts are being reused from the 305, even though a lot could of. I was also told I could of bought a zz4 short block for around $2k, but the tolerances wouldnt be the same, plus I have better internals... You add it all up and it's about the same. It has also taken me about 6 months to this point.
