How 'bout that? I've got my "first" car web page up... showing me and my friend Tom doing that 2.8/2.8 swap (from March). You even see a side shot of my '86 Firebird in it! So, let me know what you think... also, tell me how geocities is to you guys- is it fast, slow, whatever. It usually sucks for me, but it's seemed "quick" lately... but if it sucks for everyone, I'll put my "final" web page up on another server.
So, here's the link: http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen/

Will somebody shoot that kid? That's blasphemy around here to disrespect TomP, and this post is too cool to get locked down.
Just going to check it out now, Tom, I've been waiting to see these pics for a long time! I'll edit in my critique of geocities when I'm done. =)
EDIT: Very fast loader, I'm impressed. The engine looks sweet on the stand, nice dress up job. Too bad it's so buried under emmissions garbage in the bay. And the second shot, where there's only one head on it, doesn't load. Pops up a pick of some cutie with a wrench. Nice catch.

Hey Tom....just curious as to what took so long? Not flaming (you know me) but just curious. My project took Friday night, and all Saturday. I was driving around Saturday night. This was w/ me and one friend and it was my VERY first time to ever see an engine (well a V6 at least) open, so I had no clue what I was doing.
Hey Tom, your girlfriend's cute. Here's my ex-fiance
http://billy19.4t.com/Liz.html
Maybe I'll post some pics of my lil engine swap project, although I don't have as many.

Lookin' good!
I've never seen a 2.8 outside the car before... Boy, are these engines small! I am amazed they can move like they do.

Hay, Reno! Long time no hear! I really don't mind Violate3.8, seems like he wants to get banned... altho for why, I don't know.
Glad you like the pics... I'll see if I can send that second one up (the one-headed V6) again. Geocities wouldn't let me hook into their FTP site, so I had to use their "quick-FTP", maybe the pic got damaged. Their HTML editor isn't the greatest, either.. I'd rather edit the pages on my own system. And I'd love to find out how to disable that f'ing advertisement from getting stuck on the end of my HTML page! And yeah, the engine looked really sweet until it got hidden under emissions stuff and stuffed between rusty/dirty framerails...
Overclk, that's cool, I knew you weren't flaming. There were a few things... first of which was pulling the heads (which shouldn't have been done, but, oh well)- but that's not in the "3 weekends" engine swap time. We were working in his street, which meant we always had to clean up, lower the car, and put the parts away.
Then, the next day, we had to raise the car, drag out the parts, and try to find the tools (that was the worst; we kept losing sockets). Plus, since we were outside, it always got dark before we were ready to quit, and I always woke up late for the next day! The actual physical swap took place on that "work as of 3/26" weekend- but then we had to put his car back together. Plus, we were working slowly... we didn't quite "power thru it" like we could've. We weren't really in it for the speed, though; all three of us were making sure we did it all "by the book".
Oh and thanks both for the compliments on Tina; I'll let her know! (Overclk- looks good, but "ex"? Uh-oh! I'm either sorry to hear that, or glad you got out!
) But, hey, why no compliments on me?
Geez; Tina:2, TomP:0 .. hehehe! Actually; strike that- if you guys told me I was cute, that wouldn't sound too good!
Thanks, Dale! Yeah, that 2.8 was pretty light; before I got there, John said that Tom #2 picked the 2.8 off the floor, and held it in the air while John bolted it to the engine stand... no engine hoist involved!
And hey, any others, if you want to email me at TomP_3rdgen@yahoo.com about geocities' speed of loading, feel free! If the majority of you like the server, and it loads fast (I hate slow servers; I have no patience for 'em, and I don't see why you guys should have patience for a slow website of mine, either!), then I might use them for my "final, all-encompassing 3rd gen" site.
Thanks!

Awesome looking engine tom. Do you have a site featuring your car?? I agree with Wayne. It is interesting to finally put a face of the almighty car guy with the name.

WAY EXCELLENT PICS & GIRL FRIEND. Keep her!
She's the one you made scream after the new sway bar set up test drive, right?
Is this the engine that tried and failed (bad knock sound)?

Damn,Violate 3.8 would have a **** fit to hear I sank close to $1000 into 2.8 rebuild

But that included a .030 over rebuild kit with the works(minus crank and rods),turning the crank .10 ,roller tip rocker arms, redoing the heads(new seals),water pump, thermostat and rebuilding the distributer with a new pickup coil and AcCell ignition module plus the cost of machine work and $300 to let someone else do it.
But I also gave some skin from my knuckles.Great pics Tom,you brought back quite a few memories. But I have two questions for ya....HOW IN THE HELL DID YOU GET THE HOOD TO STAY UP IN THE LAST TWO PICS?????

And be honest Tom,Tina did the work,You just supervised....right?

Hehe, yeah, ya got me, Tina did the whole thing... she was like "Hey, why don't you pick up my torque wrench and stand by the engine? I'll take a picture!"
Oh, and Kevin, I was wondering what you meant by the hood; I was going to talk about the gas struts still having some charge left- but then I saw the pics- and no, the hood isn't supported by my head!
Looks that way tho, eh?
Karl, yeah, she's the one; and yeah, that's the engine that had the knocking sound, and that's the car that got sold for $25 to one of those "we tow it away" junkyards. I'm still hoping to find it in a yard somewhere...
Oh, and Black86'bird, no, there's no pictures up of my car anywhere, besides the one on the swap page (in the corner). I'll have to change that soon, now that I've got one page up, I want to get more online!
Anybody have a complaint about geocities.com? If nobody does, I'll spend the $9/month to get an advertisement-free website going, so if geocities takes a lonnng time to load for you, let me know! I don't want to drop the money if nobody wants to go to the site because of slow access time!

First off Violate 3.8 is an *******... moving on.
Tom, I use www.20m.com myself, Geocities has become to booged down lately, and it seems whenever someone places a link on this sight, it never works.(but yours did, it surprised me)
By the way nice car, and the 2.8 Swap is well done. I like my car better than yours though, just kiddin man, you have a nice ride.

Can't wait Tom! I use geocities for my site. Of course I didn't give it much thought either. I was bored at college and decided to do a website. It's ok I guess.

That's actually why I'm asking this question.. I always knew Geocities to be a very crappy, SAS (slow as ....) web server. I don't know when Yahoo took 'em over, but maybe Yahoo allocated more bandwidth for Geocities?
That's why I want people to go to http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen/ and tell me how fast my website is- but nobody's doing so. Hey guys, it's anonymous, I'm not asking for a paragraph, so please let me know!
I'll have to check out that 20m.com ...

Right here at school we have T1 lines and it loaded quickly. I'll go home and load it over a 56k and see how it does. Mine a few large pics in it and it doesn't seem to take too long.
