I want a paint job...but WHAT COLOR!?!?!?!
help me put guys! i want to repaint my 84TA. Its got the metalic brown paint with gold gfx's on it. half of the drivers side is spraypainted bronzish cause *** knows y......well i want a paint job in the summer and dont know waht to get. A solid color would be the cheapest, and im getting it done from a guy i work with (he paints cars for his job, and then does it on the side out of his garage)...so it will be relativly cheap, yet good. I was thinking black maybe, but not sure...i dont want a white, or red car either. so my question is,,,what colors (in your opinion) look good besides white and red that are solid? anyone have pics?? thanks
ok i was thinkin both of these colors..but yellow is just to flashy for me to be driving around (18yr old...2 tickets...fast car...well soon to be fast), it will stick out alot,, which is good,, but bad. i dont wnat the attention. my car is gonna be fast, i dont want people to look at it and think it by the color (if that makes anysence to anyone besides me) like yellow, and red...i see them on cars and think "fast" for some odd reason...i was really thinkin about blue too,, i jsut didnt know what shade of blue, and its all gonna be the same color (gfx's and all) probly...a darker blue maybe like midnight blue, or navy blue??

how about Pepper grey metallic like the shelby cobra in "Gone in 60 Seconds"!! Thats what I got and I think It looks good on the FBody. The pic makes it look more like a silver but it is actually almost like a Goldish silver.

Fattie, I posted some pics of Eleanor so you can get a better idea of what the paint really looks like. Mine doesn't do it justice. This pic shows what the color really looks like during the day. Its a good close up.

nope. I had It done at maaco but I have friends that work there so I got a nice quality job. I did all the prep work myself and just had them throw on the Base/clear for me, and then I wet sanded. Its not showroom quality but it will hold its own and in no way looks cheap. I didn't want anything too expensive because Its a daily driver and I'm a psycho, so I didn't want to worry about a $5000 job going to ****. If it starts fading in a few years I'll just spend another $150 bucks and get another but I think this will last a while. good luck!
BTW: I have the Dupont Fleet number for the paint code. Give me an hour. Maaco knew exactly what I wanted even without the number but i'll still get it.

**** un4given89, do you have any pics of the hood of that yellow car? I think that is the only other car (that I've seen) that has the same hood I got. In case anybody's wondering I have the Formula Hood except the power bulge is symmetrical on the other side of the hood too. Thought mine was unique...

The clear makers can be found in a post just below.
There are a few ways to do them, but just recently, buying them is the easiest way.

No4NJunk, that's a great color and I plan on painting my 83T/A this summer that color. I couldn't decide on what kind of grey or silver to go with until I saw that color, Thanks.
Also, you keep referring to the 'Shelby GT500, Eleanor' as a 'Shelby Cobra' which it is not, just thought i would correct you.
Here's a link for anyone who wants more info on Eleanor:

And heres a picture of a real Shelby Cobra

83T/A_dave I'm glad to see you like the color. Yeah your right about the shelby...thanks for the correction. When you get it painted I wanna see some pics.
ummm any camaro thats in good shape.. is gonna get attention.. so if u dont want any attention.. smash the **** out of it.. then u can go fast as u want and lower the chances of gettin cops on ya
but smashing bad hehe... so fish da cops and do wit a color dat matches da interior.. many people dont care wat it looks like all together.. but u wood look like a freak if u had red interior (as i do) and got the outside painted green.. (which i wont)..
i vote on black silver or white.. which has only grown on me cus of my car being white.. cus it looks almost spotless at night.. even if dirty.. and looks cleaner than a black car when u are farther away.. but both black and white are a biotch to keep clean.. im not sure how silver is.. but i wood seem to think it hides dirt a lil better?

BLACK on BLACK, triple BLACK, ANY KIND OF black. ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU NEVER GO BACK. AND THEN LIMO TINT YOUR WINDOWS.
if i do the body work...800 for the pepper grey metalic...and 500 for black.....i think im gonna go black. thats a sharp color anyways...and CHEAPER!! plus if i get a new hood in the future,, it be easier to match up.
i was talkin to my dad today about painting it....and of corse like a dad,,hes gonna bitch about it...."why dont you keep it the original color? blah blha blha blah"......im gonna see what it will cost me to keep it the same color... i do like the origianl color alot (metalick brownish bronze with gold gfx's)...ill just have to make sure that my "BROWN" car can kick my friends ***! im always getting crap from them that my car is brown!

You could always go with baby blue.
You know it add 40 HP

I really dig the House of Kolor "candy tangerine" Sprayed over a gold base, it really kicks ***. Even better, when you are doing the base, spray flames in a slightly different color, then spray about 5 coats of candy over it...Ghost flames kick ***!!! My car is black, it looks awesome when clean, but keeping it that way is a bitch

Im not big on brown , but the color change is a big step.
I went from red to viper blue with white racing stripes. Had to jam it out everywhere. If you dont as soon as you open the door or the hood you will see the brown.
If you go brown, paint the g/f to match.
Check around, the price of my PPG viper blue was as cheep as black. Dont let the color fool you, just because it is flashy dont mean it cost a lot .
Good luck!!
colors with pearl in them look good!!!

But, just replace the "{" with a "[" instead... simple as that!
BTW, totally repaint it stock color, then add some Crosslace style wheels, maybe a Aero Spoiler too? I love that color combo!

All beautiful cars. My vote, however (naturally) is silver.

Dude, it you dont want the attention but still look sweet, get WHITE. It rules. Yeah, i was thinking about yellow when i first got the car, but if you hear my motor and put it in a yellow car, let alone a camaro=cop magnet.
