It's pretty nice and all but should be left for someone that doesn't know much about cars. I mean, I'm sure that anyone here could build a car like that for less then 145k and still have plenty of cash left over.

Maybe my Grandma would be best suited for it.
That car is 100% Bad ***, and I seriously doubt you could replicate it for less than that price.... Plus, think about it, you could out run any exoctic on the road and the reaction youd get from a snooty Ferrari owner when you blow his doors in would be worth the price of admission alone!
Now, which bank to rob...

the credentials seem nice on it but why the nitrous?.. it seems (looks) to be a road race type of car and id ont believe you would typically be running nitrous in a rally/road sort of race would you?..

Heres how I look at it. Yeah, the car rocks... BUT: Its basically a race car with a Camaro body. They could have easily just put any body they want to on it. There for, I dont cinsider it a 3rd gen, but a 3rd gen replica. Just my thoughts!
The car does rock, dont get me wrong on that account!

I think some of you might be missing the point. Yes it's very ugly. But 246 MPH and street legal. Very very big accomplishment. I don't think I can stress that. Goto the tpi or tech engine board and talk to vader about what it takes to just achieve over 200. Not to mention keeping it street legal.
Yes, a Mclaren is a better looking car, though not street legal.
Do you honestly think you could do the same for 145k$?
When's the last time you've priced a tube chassis.
That stuff adds up quickly.

i really like what they did with the headlights, i find it cool that they chose a third gen out of every body they could have thrown on that. the hood sucks and the ground effects are too much those are my only complaints

I think thats cool as hell. I don't care for the hood, but if I was driving 246 MPH I wouldn't care what hood I had.

I remember reading about that car in popular hot rodding. I don't remember the stupid hood though. It as a whole has alot of neat things that I would like to incorporate into my car. The irs for one( I think that is was some type of porshe transaxle) It also had a neat exhaust system.
The price is real high, but I dont think that just anyone could build it for that . At least not build a SAFE replica. Custom work costs big dollars. I don't know about you but I wouldn't want to go 246mph in something that I welded together.

umm T-Tops + 246 mph = does this not equal a slight prolem
i like the idea.. me think T-Tops best part of thirdgens... but holy shiznit ... magine da hair do at 246
obviously u wouldnt get that high with them off.. but regardless u gonna look like Doc from Back to the future .. hehe
ill take the car since all of u dont like it cus of the hood... and :lala: be happy.. he not ungreatful

I knew a guy that was doing a tube race chassis on a 76 vette. that alone was costing something like 80-85k. then came all the engine and drivetrain stuff. I think he spent about 130k on everything, but still needed a better suspension and alot of body work.

Yea, sure it's fast. Looks like the wheels & tires were sucked into it though. It definitely is not one of the better looking camaros I've seen either. And in a world based primarily on looks, I'd take a car that tops out at 150 and makes a person's jaw hit the ground when they see it, compared to 200+ mph car that looks like crap. But, again, that's just me. Nice accomplishment anyways. And btw, I'd really like to know why the F1 isn't street legal.
that car is incredible, i have the article from PHR tacked up on my wall, that car has aluminum belly pans to increase downforce, and suck the car to the ground, all the engineering work done to that thing easily surpasses the price, and it still has a stock dash and seats lol.:hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail: :hail:
From what I remember reading, the F1 McLaren, was not street legal in the USA because it doesn't meet the bumber standards. There is a street leagal version that had bumpers attached to it but it threw off the whole look of the car. This was in some mag a few years back.

I wonder what insurance rates run on a car like that.

aw crap thats the tag line I wanted to use after I got done with my project K1 EVO twinturbo LS1/6speed ... Faster than a Mclaren F1 .. but that lame looking car already used it AAARRRGGGH@$%%%@ 145 grand that guy is smoking crack I could build something that would smoke that for under 50 grand easy and still be able to hire strippers to dance on it while I took pics for the classifieds

I'd rather be seen in a Ford then a rice moble like this;
