I'm still waiting for Ryan to finish the prototypes. There won't be red tho
I was hoping for red myself.
I'll be sure to spread the word far and wide the minute I get things finalized with him.

I got mine from Jameco out in Cali. Only cost me 40 bucks for 13. I went to a few other places in Jersey when I was home and the highest I could find was 5000 mch and they were like 2.50 for one. I remember 89 IROC said in his tech article that he used 3000 mch and they werent bright enough in some spots. I am guessing cuz some times the bulb is farther away from the gauges then another bulb. So I said screw it, figured with 10,000 mch I wont have annny problems seeing at night.

Is it like phosphor ? Does it retain light energy over the the course of the day and then give it off at night ? Doesn't some sort of light source need to shine on it to make it glow ? How else can this be possible ? It is pretty damn bright !!! Too bright for my tastes though....

Yeah I've had a couple when I was in my teens
I think they look cheesy now... But yea that's what I wanted to know. So it needs to be "plugged in" somehow.
I would do a tech article, but now that the cluster is already finished it wont be easy showing everybody what to do w/out pictures. To give you a basic rundown...
I used the white guages from MacEwen and removed the stock black ones. Used about 50 blue LEDs in the cluster. I soldered them toghether in strings of 16 and hot glued them down to the cluster. Ran the wires from the LED through the stock bulb holes and soldered them directly on the to bulb contact pads. Since the LEDs give off a very narrow beam, it looks stupid when you first assemble it and turn it on since you'll see spots that are very bright and some spots that arent lit up at all.
What I did is I went to walmart and got some sheets of very opaque thin plastic. I taped it to the back of the overlays and cut it out to fit. This way when the light from the LEDs shines though it, it disperses the light in a more even pattern, giving the whole guage a finished look.
That's pretty much it, if you need more details just email or PM me.
