84' TA....new engine coming March 23rd! it better not be slow after that!.
As long as it doesn't have that nasty LG4 air cleaner or any of that LG4 exhaust, it won't be.

Those are familiar looking photos, though, now becoming a distant memory...

dont you mean the engine bay?? well it was a thought,, a very short thought. this is my daily driver, and im on spring break at the moment,, so i dont have much time to do all that. Its taking long enough to get the motor done. as long as it runs, im fine.. im really getting sick of walking to work!

Looks good to me.....you can always clean up the bay as you go..a little here a little there...some of us aren't rich , we have to "road test" as we go.......Hope you have a drop base air cleaner for that performer....only 2 inches of clearance on my 89rs.
I put one of those 9inch x 1 1/2 filters on mine and it rubbed the hood....and choked my 327.....ran way rich...thanks for posting the pics, and good luck

i was told that i can get away with my stock cowl induction air cleaner with the performer.....well i jsut noticed that i never gave any specs to the engine!!! my bad well here we go!

4 bolt main block that has been "o ringed"
8.5 compression (everyday driver)
bigger heads that have been port and pollished
ballenced crank
mild cam
performer intake
double chain timing gears
bigger lifters and springs
heddman headers
supposed to have around 275-300rwhp
...ohh forgot to add.. its been bored out .040, making it a 357

Everyone reccomends the dual snorkle drop base air cleaner....myself I am going with a 2" cowel induction hood, I believe if you do a search on the topic you will find alot of posts..I thought about a small scoop, but couldn"t get myself to cut mt near perfect hood
You may get lucky, I'm not sure if the firebird hoods are different....if you have cowel induction now it just might, I think the z-28 hoods are a inch or two taller than the rs's. But if not the drop base will work..keep me posted I'll learn a little about firebirds

whats the problem???? not too difficult to adjust...look on the tranny board...Transfixleo or probuilt can tell you the best way to adjust it. I had to Fabricate a bracket to work...got one off a v-8 car and had to do a little customization to make it work

maybe your cable is messed up, or became disconnected at the tranny???

yeah it should have its own clips you squeeze on the side...that could be your problem ,....it is moving around on ya..you could get a new cable pretty cheap..its just a b**** changing it with the tranny in the car BUT it can be done...did it myself, just give yourself time and dont get in a hurry.. Threading a needle sort of thing...Blind

some are saying that you are supposed to push the square thing back, then hit the throtle to adjust it.....and some are telling my to hook up a pressure gauge,, but they never siad where to put it.

To adjust the TV Cable skip the book method and do this: Press the 'D' shaped lock button on the adjuster and loosen the cable setting (The black housing that the metal cable is in will move forward). Now, have someone floor the gas pedal while you check to see if the throttle plate is open all the way. Usually they are off a little and will wiggle. Do whatever you have to do to get it open solid. Now, with the pedal still floored, press the 'D' button and pull the cable casing (the black tube) back as hard as you can (putting maximum tension on the metal cable) and release the button. You now have the engine, tranny and gas pedal all in sync at WOT. Mark the cable casing so if for some reason it gets moved you can know where to put it again. The problem with the 'self adjust method' is that it bends things and puts them permanently out of whack. It is also the full TV setting, which is theoretically what the GM method does.

where can i get one at?? that cable is only for OD right?? i can shift it fine myself, which is what im gonna have to do in order to drive it. i also noticed that i was BONE DRY on trany fluid. its all full now. Does it take time for the trany fluid to "set in" or something?? i was hoping that was the problem, but it didnt fix it in the 10 min i was driving it. THIS SUCKS!

you can get a universal one at most parts stores...or summit..you need one for a 700r4 tranny right? Right!
It has to be mounted solid to work properly.....no tranny fluid!!!!!!! Yikes

does it matter how the cable is routed?? i when we did the swap, i didnt pay attention to how it was routed around the engine, so i just pulled it tight so there wasnt any exsess by the mount. This thing was working fine last week though, i jsut dont get how it can go to **** like this.

dont get discouraged..seems like there are always "bugs" to work out after a swap....haven't seen to many posts where a motor was swapped and they got in put it in drive and never looked back.....my Dad just had a new motor put in his caddy, by technicians, He has had it back to the shop 3-4 times getting things right....
I think problem solving is part of motor swapping..heck if it was easy , we would all open a shop and charge $65 an hour....now you know why shops charge so much....it takes TIME

ok get this...i desided to mess with the cable today no matter if it was rainging or snowing. I went out there and tried something someone told me,, didnt work.. then i did the excact opposite of what i thought i needed to do. I thought that the cable would have been somewhere near the middle, instead of completely in or out.. well i tired one in the middle,,,sucked ***,, didnt shift right at all... then i was like **** it,, im gonna start from the very front(cable all the way in) and work my way back......bammm,,, worked! when i did the stuff everyone told me to do,, it ended up setting in the middle,, thats y it was never working right. so its shifting pretty good now, only thing its missing is its snappyness into 2nd(shift kit).. i didnt wnat to mess it all up and lose the shifting i have at the moment, so i didnt mess with the cable. you think if i were to move it a few clicks it would shift harder??

are you talking about the meet in rockford this saturday?? if so,, yeah i wont miss that for anything!! im sick of all these imports that i have to hang with jsut cause i have no american car friends...well except everyone on here . umm i had the slow LG4 before, there is a HUGE differance in power. going from a 150hp engine to a 300+hp engine,, **** there better be a differance!! you can check out my car saturday if your gonna be at the rockford hang out. just dont pay attention to the dent...or the paint...or the missing headliner, or the messed up hood...lol,, the list can go on and on. at least its running right now!
