Well I checked the archives, but they really aren't all that useful. I did get a part number, but if I get one from a junk yard, that really doesn't mean anything.
What did they come on?
And how easy are they to install?
Do I need one--->91' RS?....or do I already have one?

The only cars they came on was the Iroc's your car doesn't have one unless someone put one on there which is doubtfull. GM nolonger sells them so you can either get one from a junk yard (iroc)or order one from wings west ($40). As for instaliation of them a drunk monkey could do it and not hurt himself. You would take your bushings loose on the sway bar and put the wonder bar under the bushings and tighten the bolts back up. I have seen cars were they just welded a piece of square bar at the front of the subframes right behind the lower radiator support.

When it comes to suspension, I'ld pay a drunk monkey to do the work for me, cause I do not trust my ability that much. I'm only good at preventive maintenance type stuff.
So it just slides onto the endlinks? Or do you just sandwhich them in there? That doesn't sound very safe?

I am a moron, but I had NO problems installig my wonder bar... Very straight forward. It it helps sooo much - my car would creak and groan like it was orgasming when I would back outa my driveeway - now it doesnt, barely at all. I can really feel the front end tighten up (I alos put new endlinks on, with poly bushings...). Anyways, go fer it! Its not hard (once ya get under the car and see what ppl are talking about!).

I just scored 2 of them yesterday at the local junk yard
, and sorry, no, they are not for sale. One is going in the convertible, and the other is going in my '85 Iroc coupe, which for some reason, didn't have one in it, go figure
. I'm glad to hear the positive responses about it, as I wasn't quite too sure about it's benifits, you guys all rock!!!!!

Yeah, I've already searched everything around here, but to no avail
I'm just going to buy the Global West one and be done with it. Atleast it'll be purtty
And after looking at that link the Jza left, I feel like a real A$$. Forget the drunk monkey, I think a "Mr. *****" could even do this.

isn't worth anything? you wait until your weak frame cracks around the box and then tell me it isn't worth it. The thing weighs next to nothing. I'd happily trade 5-10 pounds for the increased strength i got.

Well yall.....it arrived today, and in less than an hour I had that bad boy on my car. This thing is the shizit!! If you don't have one, I highly recommend it. If you have t-tops, YOU SHOULDN'T BE W/O ONE. It's amazing how much flexing that thing takes out.
Also, as an added bonus, my t-tops no longer squeak
......now I can't wait to put in Spohn's SFC.
Thanks to all that replied:rockon:

Awesome, I'm gonna go pull that sucker Saturday. I'm guessing it'll fit on my 89 GTA
Only thing I'll need is a 15mm socket right? (and a Torque arm).

I dont know why only the irocs had them but if you do a search on them you might find some pictures of what can happen without it. I saw some pictures of a guys car where the frame cracked up front by the steering box and he had to have it welded. These in adition to stoping general flex are supposed to prevent the stress that causes these cracks.

OK Guys, I just installed one of them on my 'vert last night, and all I can say is WHOLY ****!!! WOW! I can't belive how that little piece of metal realy tightened the car up! Just like everyone else has stated, the car definitely feels much tighter, and seems to track through the turns better also. I would highly recommend this to anyone who has a convertible. It really eliminated a lot of front end body flex, which was evidenced when I pulled out of, and into my driveway. I can't wait to get the coupe done now and put the other one on that car!!!
I thought it was made by global west. http://www.globalwest.net/ it is listed for 46 something partway down the page on the subframe connector page. It is in the picture with the subframe connectors for 82-92 camaro/firebird.

I have the Global West bar on my '89 Formula. Cost under $50 with shipping.
It was pretty easy to install. I did let the sway bar go accidentally and it whacked me in the head, but that was my fault.
It really tightened up the steering. No more groans and front wheel hop when pulling into tight parking spaces. I have a set of Hotckis tie rod sleeves ready to go on. That should make the steering system feel even better!
DEFINITELY worth the money. Skip the GM piece, go with the GW bar!!

I can't supply pic's of GW's version. But I can supply pictures comparing TDS's (Top-Down Solutions) version to GM's.
This is the prototype piece I've completed. I'm currently building the first production run and expect to have them available in a couple of weeks. Lon

Why did the IROC's have them?? For more bracing and better handling.

According to the Parts and Illustration Catalog and GMpartsdirect.com the wonder bar is still available from GM.

14079634 is the correct pn for the Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar). Or should I say "was". It is indeed discontinued. Lon

The TDS 106021 89 TTA Steering Brace is $47.50. If you have any other questions or would like to order one, e-mail me at: topdownsolutions@yahoo.com. Lon

I bought my Wonder Bar pn 14079634 through VanDevere Olds about 3 years ago for $22.46 plus shipping. Do you really think GM would sell the Steering Brace (aka Wonder Bar) for $7? That should be a big clue that the pn you ordered was incorrect. But we'll wait until Thursday for you to confirm as much.

Hey 91Banditt2, why are you keeping us in suspense? What did you get by mistake instead of the Wonder Bar? Curious minds want to know.
