Anybody who has Flowtech shorties

How well do you like them? Do they have any effect on ground clearance? How hard are the spark plugs and header bolts to get at? I will be installing them with the heads off of the motor, any other problems getting them in? For anybody with the coated ones, are they coated inside and out, or just outside. I found a place that sells them coated for $150, and the Y-pipe is like $100 or $120. For that price for coated headers, how can I go wrong??

i have the regular non coated flowtech shorties. they only have 1.5 inch primaries, which is pretty small. ground clearance is great cause they are shorties. access to the header bolts is decent and same for the spark plugs...i have to get under the car to get a couple, but a modified spark plug socket i am making may solve that problem. overall i would not buy them again cause of the small primaries. other than that i have no problem with them.

How long have you had them? Are they 1.5" o.d. or i.d.? If they are 1.5" i.d., I think that should be sufficient for my 305. The overall quality of the headers is my main concern, ie: noisy, leak-prone, durable...

they are 1.5 inch inside diameter. the qualtiy of the coated ones should be good. i would say the regular non-coated ones hold up okay. i would say get real good gaskets (the dead soft aluminum ones, they are reusuable, flowtech makes some good ones). i havent had a problem with leaks yet (i got them last summer, but paper gaskets suck). when i can afford the good dead soft aluminum ones i will be getting them.

Thanks man, those look great! The ones pictured in the catalog must be for the 4th gens; those didn't look like they'd fit too well.
