Pics of my flow-tech ceramic header install
Here are some pics for any header shoppers out there. These weren't the most expensive route to go, $369 from next gen, but after a summer of running them I have been very pleased. They seemed like a cost effective slp alternative, the price included the y-pipe and every thing for instalation. Here are some pics:
i'm interested in flowtech's too. what kind of clearance issues didyou run into? was it worth the price, i'm looking closer at the uncoated ones, and putting some crap on em myself. Even if they only last two years, and i don't drive the car in winter anyway.
any advice is greatly appreciated.
The only header experience i have is slp 1 3/4's that i put in a friends car, and i don't feel like spending that much right now.

These headers are well worth the price I paid. They were the cheapest ceramic coated set I coiuld find, so I'll have to admit I was a little skeptical, at first. The instructions were very weak and didn't tell me anyhting I didn't already know. You also need to fabricate some spacers for a few of the bolts, not really much of a challenge though. Never the less, I only ran into one instalation problem. The y-pipe came in two pieces, that slip together and need to be welded. When we installed mine, I don't think we had the pieces all of the way together. Kinda hard to explain with words; there was a sort of female end and a male end for the y-pipe connection, and the male end didn't get inserted far enough into the female end ( I hate it when that happens
). Well, long story short, it did result in a clearence problem with the frame directly under the oil pan that caused some rattleing. I blame this complication on my self, and it was easily fixed by way of a tourch, some prying and some banging; no harm done. I have run them for a whole summer, and no sign of rust, even where they're scratched, or any leaks(I actually had the ***** to use the supplied gaskets). Over all, I feel I got my moneys worth.
Good luck SlowV8

Yea they look great!!
I have a set of uncoated flowtech headders on my truck there good headders, although a bit too much headder noise for my taste. I hate headders that sound like thier leaking when thier not!
That looks like a thick flange on those what size is it? the part that connects to the head. Also what kind of collector gaskets do those use? It looks to me like a standard paper collector gasket.

I am not too sure about the flange thickness, my car is 100 miles away from me right now, but I imagine it is the same as yours.
I used all the supplied paper gaskets, with a thick coating of RTV. This might come back to haunt me some day!
Can you describe this header noise, and when you hear it please. I think I might be experinceing it also, but I'm not sure if the noise I am hearing is from the headers or not.

I mentioned the price in the original post.

No AIR fittings on mine, I am not sure if they're availible with them or not?(I wanted to rid myself of that clutter anyways) They did however come with an O2 bung welded on, if you need this sensor for your set-up you just have to drill the hole, peice of cake.

I imagine they're 1 5/8" primaries but I am not positive.

The headder noise happens under medium/heavy accleration kinda a tchhhhtchhhhhtchhhhh, yet no exhaust leaks at all. What I contribute to this noise is the exhuast, exhausting into the primary tubes and the tubes are thin enough to hear the noise. It would be real nice if they made some REAL THICK primaries so this noise isnt heard.

They are 1 1/2 primaries with a 2 1/2 Y pipe. I have the exact same headers sitting on my garage floor. The Y pipe looks like the stocker; I was thinking of maybe going to get a custom Y pipe. And they are not available with AIR fittings; if you try to get a hold of Flowtech they will tell you that you dont need the AIR to be 49 state legal (you can pass the sniffer without AIR anyway).

I also like the color you picked for your block.
