SOLD 1992 Z28 convertible, black/red Z03 Heritage Edition
I'm selling a project that I took on this summer and have just about finished it. I'm picking it up from the interior upholstery shop on Friday.
Details:
true 1992 Z28 Z03 heritage edition convertible
305TPI / auto
approx. 160k miles
Due to a front end collision it has a rebuilt title. I've spent a lot of time putting it back together, and I've driven it since putting it together, it drive straight down the road like nothing had ever happened to it. No dog legging/slouched stance.
The whole car has been repainted, although the body was painted when I got the car and the previous owner didn't have time to finish painting the rest of it like the ground effects and bumpers. So I finished that up and painted on the red stripes instead of re-applying a vinyl set.
Some notable features;
-rear end was serviced in December 2011 with new gear set, bearings, seals, and fluid
-crack-free dash pad
-brand new convertible top
-brand new leather front seats (bought a set of gently used low mileage rear seats that are in excellent shape to compliment the new fronts)
-brand new carpet
-brand new outer window sweeps
-brand new Walbro 255 fuel pump
-brand new fuel filter, same scenario as the pump
-brand new sway bar bushing kits, front and rear, have literally 5 miles on them
-brand new red Z28 exterior emblems from Hawks
-all the gauges in the cluster work properly
-fuel injectors were replaced with a used set I had, they were ohm tested before installing
-has a dent in one of the doors
-windshield is cracked, I have a mint one to include with the car
-freshly restored correct alloy wheels (not 100% perfect as it was our first time trying this, but they look very good)
I realize the title may scare some away, but I wouldn't have spent the time putting this car back together if it wasn't worth it. It's a very rare car, being a black and red Z03 convertible, and the damage wasn't that bad. I didn't have any issues getting the fenders and bumper lined up if that tells you anything.
I have a lot of time and a decent amount of money in the car, so my asking price although not 100% concrete, is close to what I would like to walk away with. I'll entertain offers although I will not respond to low balling or trade offers. NO TRADES. As I stated above, my reason for selling is my wife and I are closing on a house and we are needing to purchase carpet.
$7,500.00
As of 12/14/11 the car needs brake pads.

Just to add to the rebuilt title, It does not take much to total these cars today, the insurance companies go value VS cost of repair. If these cars need a front or rear clip they are totaled, at this price the car is a bargain with all that was put into it. I have a car right now 96 Vette hit in the rear, Progressive will total it next week, I will buy it back and fix it with a rebuilt title, it will sell the first week because people know us and our work. good luck brother great looking car.

Older pictures to follow (I updated the first two posts of mine with the newest photos)
Got it back from the shop today with the new seats and new top. The guy at the shop thinks he can get me a good deal on new carpet so I may be installing that in the near future as well. The more I spend the more firm the price will be though.
Installed a gently used bowtie grill as well, the old one was cracked.

Re: 1992 Z28 convertible, true Heritage Edition black/red
Come over and take a look at it if you want. We're going to be spraying the wheels this afternoon with the red and clear coat. I did end up ordering carpet for it so the interior is going to be REALLY nice as soon as I get that put in. The existing carpet was kind of an eye sore.
I also forgot to mention I'm taking it to get a new gear set installed this coming week. The 2.73's are howling really bad, I'm going to have a new set of 2.73's installed professionally.

We finished restoring the wheels tonight. This is before we cleared them. I'll get them on the car as soon as possible.

Re: 1992 Z28 convertible, true Heritage Edition black/red
This car is becoming a very tempting buy. Would like to see final pics of the wheels and carpet. Also, do you have any engine shots? What can you tell me about that part of the car?
Also, was the repaint BC/CC or single stage urethane?

Re: 1992 Z28 convertible, true Heritage Edition black/red
I'll have to get engine pictures next weekend as it is already dark by the time I'm home from work during the week. Same for the carpet and wheels if I'm able to install them next weekend.
The engine makes no knocks or odd noises. It seems to run fine, the Trans shifts pretty hard into second gear, and is the only notable thing I've found thus far. Aside from the howling gears it seems to be a good running car. I've not yet tried the ac but will check on it on the weekend.

Paint was bc/cc. The body, doors, trunk (without stripes) and fenders were painted before I got it. We painted the rest and painted the stripes instead of going back with decals.
Re: 1992 Z28 convertible, true Heritage Edition black/red
Ok I will look for the update next weekend. Trans issue is something to take note of so update on that if you drive the car any appreciable distance. 160k on the engine/drive train is the only ? I can see at this point.
You have done a nice job on the cosmetics though!!

nice resto job man, just finished an 88 and it sold at carlisle for $10000! $7000 for this car is a steal, if i was you i'd bump the price to at least $12000.

If it didn't have a salvage title I'd be asking a lot more. I'm trying to be realistic here. I'm asking enough to not make all the time and money I spent on it a waste, but not so much that I don't get any bites.

Re: 1992 Z28 convertible, true Heritage Edition black/red
The front wheels aren't mounted yet because I haven't been able to get the tires mounted on them yet. I got the used set of Nitto 555R's mounted on the rears so those are on the car now. Looks much better than with the old wheels.
I also got some more interior work done with putting on the driver side door panel and trim. We ended up ordering carpet for the car, which should be coming in early next week. After we get that I'll install it so I can put the seats in.

Thanks, I'm really happy we spent some time on the wheels. The black set didn't do anything for the car.
Brand new carpet, letting it set out for a couple of days and will install it on Saturday.

Thanks, it's the factory color red for 92, not sure of the name. I ordered it thru the upholstery shop that did the seats and top, not sure what site it came from but it's ACC carpet.

I'll be putting the carpet in tomorrow, just got the car back from the shop tonight. It ended up needing a little more than just gears, the bearings were trashed and one of the shims fell apart and was stuck to the magnet in the pumpkin.
The rear has all new bearings, shims, seals, fluid, and gears. It drives much better now.

There's no mods to it at all so it looks like a stock 305 tpi. I will get pictures soon. I'm trying to get ahold of two better tires for the front to mount on the other alloy wheels so I can get all the pictures I need at once. The wiring is all there and in tact though, the engine bay hasn't been screwed around with.

There's not a whole lot to show, these are the pictures I took before we put it back together. The repairs were already done to the frame when we bought it. All we had to do was line up the fenders and install everything after we finished painting misc. body panels.
