I have a vert and love this kind of stuff but I don't remember these. Could someone give a brief rundown of who made these and how they mount and work etc?

 

I know i will regret this for a while. I already do. But I am gonna pass. I want it but I got a lot of other ways I could spend 400 in my car. I think it's a great piece and hope whoever gets it has a car deserving of it, but with that said I'm am out.

So I am browsing the web and looking at vert pics and I am now kicking my self in the a** for letting this sale pass me by. Please post some good pics once installed. I may have to build one someday and would like some reference pics to save and keep. I know I will never find another one. I just never thought regret would set in this quick.

 

Well gang, this transaction quickly went south. I paid for this on 1/26, requesting tracking info on 1/30, received an invalid FedEx Ground tracking # on 2/3, asked for seller to confirm and received the response "I just called and the bar will be delivered on Friday the 7th". On 2/7, when it didn't arrive, I sent another message asking again that he confirm and resend me the correct tracking #. No response. On Monday, 2/10, it arrived. Not a big deal, weather has been horrible everywhere. I send him a PM saying I received it. Later that evening, after kids are all in bed, I open it up. Immediate red flag based on how it was packed-no packing material or wrapping of any sort other than two pieces of Styrofoam over the brackets to prevent them from punching through sides of the box. Also, the Styrofoam pieces are taped to the light bar with packing tape. To my dismay, inspection reveals this "near perfect condition with no tears or major blemishes" and "It is in fantastic shape" light bar has a rip, major scuffing on top corner and numerous scratches and imperfections. I immediately send him a PM about it and express my dissastisfaction and state I will gladly return it at his expense, or we can work on the price. No response and he hasn't logged onto TGO since 2/8. So, after waiting just shy of a week, I finally filed a complaint through PayPal. Here are some pics...

 

Some pictures of the rip - yeah, not huge, but seller claimed there were none and I saw it right away and I don't know how you'd fix it without rewrapping entire bar.

 

One of the scratches over brake light (I tried a few different angles, hard to get them to show up in pic) and of the scuff mark.

 

Wow, I hate to hear stuff like that. I hope the 2 of you can get it settled easily. It sure doesn't seem to arrived as described in the quote of post #2 of this thread. Mine was brand new in the original box when purchased. Although it was in a box, it was completely double wrapped with a 1/8" thin white foam wrap with the tape only touching the foam, tightly to hold to the light bar. Its still a great rare piece. They originally sold for around $500. I'm sure Hawks bought the molds for it some years back. If you decide to keep it maybe there's someone there who could help you repair or restore it. Nope, no settling this easily unfortunately. I haven't heard back from seller since it shipped. He's logged on here once or twice and finally responded to PayPal the other day. Per PayPal, he is contesting my allegations, although, I would think if were was really confident this light bar was as “perfect” as he had claimed, he would have responded to me via email, PM or this thread. I did request, when filing my claim with PayPal, a $200 refund from him. However, this wasn’t a concrete number, more to get his attention and respond to me. I may have been negotiable on this item had seller been responsive, professional and reasonable. Regardless, PayPal is ruling in my favor so I have to ship it back, the down side is, return shipping is at my expense and best rate I can find (based on his box) is $95 via UPS Ground! He shipped to me via FedEx and did mention that it was slightly over the $50 he charged me and that he took care of the difference so I'm not sure what he paid. Regardless, PayPal and I have both sent him emails requesting he cover return shipping and/or provide a pre-paid shipping label. I'm not holding my breath.
In hindsight, two red flags with this transaction were - he initially told me he had PayPal but didn't use and preferred to use Chase Square but when I told him I wasn't familiar with that and would look into it, he came back and gave me his fiancé’s PayPal info.
I'm going to be sure to leave trader feedback accordingly on here and hope all viewing this thread, keep this transaction in mind should it pop up again on here by him or under another user ID.

 

Well, this is finally resolved. Since I was first sent the shipping info post my sending payment, I haven't heard from the seller despite numerous attempts. His fiancé received and signed for the bar yesterday and Paypal has refunded my $400 and closed the case. I don't know why I was receiving the high shipping quotes I mentioned in my last post b/c the return shipping ended up being $60 UPS Ground which PayPal also covered. Kudos to PayPal!
So, I don't know if he'll log on again at some point but he hasn't since 2/20, and I don't know if he'll try to relist it again, but keep this thread in mind if he does. Now this piece wasn't hateful, however, far from perfect as he described. Add horrible packing and communication to the mix, and the whole ordeal just stunk. Glad to get my $400 back and wash my hands of it. For the sake of TGO, I hope he, and sellers like him, just stay away.

If he does re-list it I'll make an offer to buy but will only pay a used not in great condition price. I could recover and repair. I know ED1LE had problems but it would still be a great piece to have if the price reflected the condition.

 

Money back, but time lost, which cant be replaced. His ID is familiar, wasn't he the one trying to sell the chromed out hood louvers?

I agree, he didn't communicate with me even though I did say I'd negotiate when I filed my claim with PayPal. I'm wondering if bc it is such a rare piece, if he thought the buyer would simply overlook this faults in the piece and his description. In my case, the price and description didn't reflect the actual condition.
