Keeping water out of cowl hood

has anyone come up with a way to run the cowl on the power bulge hood open all the time yet keep water out when it rains at the same time? i tried a piece of sheet metal across the opening that only blocked about the bottm 1/3 to 1/2 to try and block water from going in, but that didn't work at all. so i put the plate back on for now, at least until i can make something that will actually work. if you guys have pictures of your set up, i'd really appreciate seeing them. thanks in advance.

what would water hurt?

think about it.

the engine itself should be sealed.
everything underhood must be able to take the spray of when you drive in the rain.
water isnt pouring into the carb.

the only thing you have to do is make a couple drain holes in your carb to hood seal pan, if you have one.

yes but where i live man when it rains it rains hard and there is alot of water everywhere like street flood and stuff so if i was to hit that with a ss hood my air filter atop my carb would be soaked thus sucking water into it and i think this is what this guy is talking about. this is something i too would like to figure out before i buy my new hood

i'm just worried because the water that gets in falls almost directly onto the distributor. i opened the hood and the top of the air cleaner was holding water and the distributor was wet as well.

Any 82-84 T/A with the functional hood should have it.

it looks like it just dumps that water down onto the strut tower and the other end in closed. is that right? i'm guessing it also has a slight slant to the driver's side. it doesn't look to hard to fab up, maybe i'll try it this weekend. thanks for the pic.
