New stock disc brake calipers

Hi everyone,

I'm converting my car to rear stock factory discs over the drum brakes. I have to go stock disc because I have 14" rims so I can't put on anything bigger, and I know stock calipers do fit inside a 14" rim. Buying bigger wheels is an expensive option so not going to happen.

I know that 82-86 (or thereabouts) calipers had a kit you could buy which fixed a problem where the e-brake didn't work very well. My question is, if I go and buy remanufactured calipers will they have the fix applied to them or will I still have to get hold of the overhaul kit from somewhere?

Thanks,

I am not sure about the ebrake kit but my remanufactured calipers from advance auto have never given me an ebrake issue it holds tight all year every year. Also I think the drum axles had a different hub diameter that does not fit in the factory rotors.

Thanks for that, makes me feel more confident in getting re-manufactured calipers now. These are going onto a diff that already has disc axles so I should be good there.

These are the same as what I run. Still no idea if they have the kit but my ebrake works

Re: New stock disc brake calipers

Your store bought calipers are unlikely to have the recall kit installed. May or may not still be available:

Part Number: 18019028 from GM Parts Direct, listed as "Actuator" and included parts for both rear calipers, pistons, springs, seals, etc.

Re: New stock disc brake calipers

Thanks for the part number. To avoid returns on the product, wouldn't they want to have the recall kit already applied to re-manufactured calipers?
