Re: 1987 IROC-Z Convertible Black/Saddle
I have a 1987 IROC-Z fully-restored 87...its a 20th Anniversary car...updated to 87 305 TPI rebuilt at 0.20, auto...frame ties, limited slip & rear disc added....I was told it was built in the plant, but have been unable to verify. My painter told me it had the original rivots for the front fender extensions (which were used early)
Does your car have a "2" or a "3" as the sixth VIN digit? I'm willing to bet it's a "2". I'm guessing this because my references say that TPI / autos were not available on 1987 convertible Z28's. NOR was the LG4 / 5-speed. These combinations were only allowed in coupes. Nonetheless, you have a beautiful car!
The best convertible(s) in my opinion will forever be Fatal88's and ******. Though I dont think either have been active on this board in a VERY long time. Those two, along with Steve Vidal, have always been the inspiration for my Camaro.
Wow, I'm just seeing this. Thanks!
I have not been posting in over five years, I believe. Yes, I still own my 1987 Z28 convertible. Although it's seen 0 miles in five years, I do start it and run it to full temp every other week. Three months after I bought it in 1994 from the original owner, my wife and I brought our newborn daughter home in it. She's 19 now.

The best one is the one you own and especially when you get it paid for.

It may not be the best, but it is mine. Factory stock with just under 40k miles. Always fun to drive. Thanks for taking a look.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
I must admit that most people would prefer the car they own... Take me for example, I own an 89 Formula 350 convertible ( 1 of 42 )... I would not trade it for a Trans Am Convertible or a Z28 convertible, the ONLY 3rd gens I would consider trading it for EVEN UP would be a TTA a 91-92 Firehawk, or possibly an all original 92 Heritage Z28 1LE COnvertible (like that exists)... and I would struggle with doing so...
WIth that said...

Re: Whos got the best vert.
I know a guy that has an 89 GTA that came with a 5.7 liter. He picked it up from a small lot for 5K about 10 years ago. His name is Steve Leary. The car had a problem with the VATS system and he used to post here, do you know him? The car had the Ronal 17" chromed Firehawk rims on it but no other SLP parts.
Beyond that I am not sure what else it would be.

Re: Whos got the best vert.
95% of the times cars at work with Vats issues are the wires from the ign. cyl. break. He needs to Ohm the key and try the resistor trick. If the security light goes out with the resistor trick it should fire up. (IF its a true vats issue)

Re: Whos got the best vert.
Everyone's got a nice Drop top but I've gotta say two of my favorites off the top of my head are BlueZee's and Mr. IROCZs convertible.
