1984 Recaro Trans Am For Sale or Part Out
Hello,
I have a 1984 Recaro Trans Am for sale. Here is the info. I sure most of you know about these cars but here is the info anyway. It's black with tan leather recaro interior they only made 1321 of these. they made 1500 of the anniversary editions. The seats are almost perfect as is "most" of the interior. It has t-tops, automatic 305 h.o. 54,000 original miles original rims and center covers. Now for the bad car has been sitting for about the last 14 - 15 years in my garage. Engine turns over and is still in good shape as is the transmission. Body has minor front driver damage it would probably need new front driver fender and nose piece. also minor damage to driver door which has been fixed. could use a paint job. I was in the middle of trying to redo to original but have decided to sell or considering parting out. Just found out today in the middle of fixing that the gas tank and fuel pump will probably need replaced due to rust. If not for that the car would probably start right up if it had fuel lines cleaned. I am 41 now and have owned this car since i was 20. When i bought it from the original owner in 1988 it only had 15,000 miles on it. I would prefer someone to have it that wants to completely restore it the great part about it is that it would not really take that much just some body, mechanical work and paint like i said the seats are almost perfect which is typically the hard part to restoring something to original. Anyway if you are interested let me know either on this board or at jerryp68@gmail.com. I will send current pics if interested
Thanks
Jerry

Right now i'm taking offers. Not really sure what it's worth. It's probably worth more to part out. Because the seats are in such good shape.
Would you like me to send you pics?
Thanks

Re: 1984 Recaro Trans Am For Sale or Part Out
Well i guess i need to come up with a price which has not been easy to do but here it goes.
I also have a porsche 928 that needs the seats re-upholstered. I contacted Bob at the 928 Leather shop in Michigan he told me to do the front driver & passanger would cost $1,500 the rear seats $800. Those seats are a simple recover compared to the recaro seats so at the very least i thing the Recaro seats are worth at least that price probably more. So if you break the car down buy parts it would look like this in my opinion. So let me know what you think.
Front Recaro Seats $1,500
Back Recaro Seats $800
Original 305 H.O. Engine W/ 54,000 Original Miles $350 - $400
( Normal price for any engine in Indiana junkyard )
Original Transmission W/ 54,000 Original Miles $350 - $400
( Normal price for any engine in Indiana junkyard )
Original Rims & Center Caps in good shape w/ minor scratches $300-$400
Original Dash in excellent shape no cracks $100 - $200
Original Driver & Pass door panels in excellent shape $100 - $200
==============
Total $3200 - $3900
These prices don't include the other sellable parts such as Quadra jet carb center console gages & other parts of the dash under the dash pad plus others & the body.
So i guess i would probably sell it for $2800.
Let me know what you think this is really the only way i know how to judge a fair price. Also i'm not desperate to sell this car if i have to keep i have to keep no big deal. It still has alot of sentimental value to me.
Thanks
Jerry

Re: 1984 Recaro Trans Am For Sale or Part Out
Forgot to mention that i will include with this purchase the following manuals.
1. 1984 GM Pontiac Factory Service Manual the same one the machanics use at the dealerships.
2. Chiltons 1982 - 1994 Pontiac Firebird Repair Manual this is the bigger Chiltons manual
3. Chiltons Repair & tune-up guide 1982 - 1985 Firebird this is the small repair manual
4. Haynes Automotive repair manual 1982 - 1992 Pontiac Firebird.
All these manuals have alot of valuable info on this car about anything you could need to restore. If you would like pics of them let know.
Thanks
