92 Polo Green RS Heritage Edition with 190 Miles

Just saw this listed online... it seems more low mile cars are coming out of the shadows. I'm surprised at the numbers of them out there.

190 Miles
Polo Green RS T-Top 305 TBI Auto
Asking: $19,995
Lots of great photos, but no RPO tag photo...

Nice sound system:

Painted the trunk floor, exhaust, muffler and rear axle very poorly . .

The breather is "duct taped" to the air cleaner . . .

The air cleaner wing nut is wrong . . (I think)

The front side marker lights are not lined up in the openings . .

The passenger side ground effect and rub marks on the fender . .

Windshield is de-laminating . .

Dent in rear seat leather . .

Air bag shrinking (common problem but climate controlled storage?)

118 painted on core support . . I assume the last time it was serviced . .

and that is just looking at the pictures . .

Re: 92 Polo Green RS Heritage Edition with 190 Miles

I noticed the exhaust paint and the intake tape, but not the other stuff. I went back and could see all the other things mentioned, but not the windshield delimitation (not even sure what I'm looking for there). Most of this stuff is an easy fix. That exhaust paint was probably done with good intentions for preservation.

Still a beautiful car, love polo green.

Re: 92 Polo Green RS Heritage Edition with 190 Miles

Normally I would say forget it when it came to a $20k RS...

But that car is amazing. I looked at an 82k mile green/tan 25th RS about 6 years ago for a $2,500 resto project, and almost bought it. I ended up buying my old 86 TA instead.

Prettiest third gen IMO is a polo green/tan stripe 25th RS. Its just a perfect combo. If I could? I'd offer them $16 and try to take it home. What an awesome car.

Someone posted on the ThirdGen Expo page that it's sold. They got full asking price. $19,995.

I love Polo Green as well, and with the flaws we've identified in this thread, you should be able to negotiate your way down to $16k (or less!).

Honestly shocked it sold so fast and for list price . . . my wife and I wanted to actually see the car in person to compare and get notes . . . oh well.

But it does make me happy . . . makes mine worth just a tad bit more . . .

I saw that last night. Had me wondering if I'm lowballing myself these days when I look at these cars.

As insane as it is to admit this...I'd prefer that car over my old IROC. Both are slow by contemporary standards, and I've always had a serious love for a polo/gold 25th to go with my 30th.

With 190 miles on that particular car though...I don't know how I'd ever bring myself to drive it even a small amount. And the fun for me in these cars is at least driving them a little.

I ordered a new GM one from Modern Day Muscle, but I don't see any now. If you don't find a new one, you can remove yours and paint it. You need a special tool to remove the mounting nut.

Re: 92 Polo Green RS Heritage Edition with 190 Miles

When I replaced the mast antenna base on my Formula, the replacement assembly came with the nut, but not the plastic bezel. It's been painted ever since. Sometimes the plastic dressings will bring the color back. I've never needed a special tool to get the nut off, a person can fabricate a tool from a flat piece of steel by just cutting a U notch wide enough to engage two opposite notches in the bezel nut, and deep enough to clear the mast stud.

Drew, you know the kind of people that make their own tools? Well, I'm not that guy.

Re: 92 Polo Green RS Heritage Edition with 190 Miles

Everything listed as "wrong" with this car is not really wrong. My windshield is delaminating at the edges, the side marker lights were installed like that from the factory, the black paint on the underside is dealer undercoating, my antenna bezel is also fading due to age, and the dent in the rear seat leather is an easy fix. Very nice car.
