C4B RPO Code

So I know the C4B RPO is PERFORMANCE PACKAGE ENGINE UPGRADE. But what did that include? Mine is on an LG4/T5 car.

Re: C4B RPO Code

This is what I found. This window sticker says it is a double play value option on a 1985 Z28 Camaro so it may be a cassette player option?

Re: C4B RPO Code

Yes, but why would they list it in the RPO code list?

Re: C4B RPO Code

Does your RPO list have UL5 for the radio delete. Does it have any of these RPOs, U63, U69, YE1, YE2,YE4,YF1, or UT4 on Berlinetta models. Which are various radios and stereo systems for 1984. If it is a factory radio delete order I think it should have the UL5 listed and none of the radio RPOs should be listed. Just trying to figure out why you have the C4B if it is an engine option as it is on your car's RPO list?

Re: C4B RPO Code

Is the 5th digit of your VIN an "S" or "P"?

Re: C4B RPO Code

I think it still has to do with your radio delete RPO UL5. Your RPO V73 is for a "fixed mast" antenna. You don't have the RPO U73 for the "fixed mast" fender antenna. I think C4B does two things it deletes your fender antenna when you delete your radio and the fender mast antenna at the same time.

If the original windshield is in the car does it have the wire antenna in it? Do you have an antenna on your fender?

Here is an example of a 1987 GM truck with the RPO U76 which was a windshield antenna and V73 the fixed antenna at the same time.

Re: C4B RPO Code

Mine has a manual, retractable antenna on the drivers side rear fender, and does not have an antenna in the windshield, its the factory windshield from what I can tell

Re: C4B RPO Code

I don't think your antenna is stock then because they didn't mount the antennas on the rear in 1984. They were all mounted on the right front fender. So you don't have a hole in the right front fender where an antenna was previously mounted do you? If you don't I would say the C4B has something to do with the fender not having a hole in it and the wiring harness being different so it doesn't have an antenna wire plug in on it.

Re: C4B RPO Code

No hole in the front right fender. I think there is an RPO listed in mine that is for antenna delete, or something of that nature. What are the odds that GM used that code for smaller police departments or highway patrol departments in 1984, just spit balling there

Re: C4B RPO Code

That first link I posted for that 1985 Z28 has the C4B and says it is called a double play value option. Implying it does two things for the price of one. That car also has the U75 for an electric antenna along with the YE2 stereo system. Which reduced the cost of one or the other when ordered together.
It also could have been a credit of some kind for not having an antenna along with the UL5 deleted radio in 1984 which would have saved GM a few bucks since there was no charge for the antenna when a radio was ordered.
