Upper console fixing
Hi all!!
fast question: how is the upper console supposed to be fixed in the frontal part to the chassis? I've found no way apart from manually modifying it.
THANKS!!!!

Re: Upper console fixing
Are you talking about the overhead console? If so, there are specific screws that go up there that the console slides on to.

Re: Upper console fixing
Your console is either very different from us models, not from a third gen, or heavily modified. Doesn't look anything like one I've seen before. Keep in mind that ttop consoles are different from hard top consoles.

No, that is a third gen console. It just has all of the stuff removed from it. No map pocket, dials, map light or buttons.

What are you working on putting in that spot. I've been toying with the idea of relocating my window switches to that area.

Re: Upper console fixing
It provides me 1) clock 2) in temp 3) out temp
I'm removing the light to put a panel with 2-3 red LEDs for interior low red glare, very common in modern cars.
Removing the pocket too to put: bluetooth mic, pioneer auto equalizer mic, USB port and aux-in (not sure about those positions), second fan switch, and a switch to control another very low red glare at foots.
The upper console is the only thing I modified in the car. Everything else I keps original.

Re: Upper console fixing
yeah i definitely thought they would be more desirable, i have a hard top and t-top console up for grabs but it seems the only people that want them just want parts because they already have the console.
oh well. OP i hope you keep us updated on your progress with this, would be very interesting to see the steps you take with modifying this piece.

Re: Upper console fixing
I took the "wheely reminder thingy" out of mine and made a block plate to fit the hole. I mounted a pushbutton that activates my garage door opener. The guts of the opener are back in the rear portion of the console. I had a friend make me a voltage regulator that drops the voltage to 9V for the opener.

Anyone else mount anything cool in that spot?
I'm very interested in replacing those useless dials!

Re: Upper console fixing
I gutted mine and put an old digital clock in there behind some smoked plexi that only shows when you push the map light button. Who uses the oil change **** thing anyways? haha
