Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
Ill post a bunch of pictures here from start to finish.
Here is what it looked like my first night with it. Was sitting for over a year and needed some TLC.
Removed some peeling vinyl, and moldings. A nice heavy wash, clay bar, cut and then buff gave me this.
Really wasn't happy with the web cracked bumper, basketball sized dent in the drivers door, pealing front lip, and the overall loss of vibrance the paint had over the years. I have been professionally detailing and correcting paint for a few years now and none of my products could make the paint bring anything more to the table.
Since the original paint was okay besides the front and rear bumpers I decided to respray it. I put well over 100 hours into body repair, shaving, filling, blocking, surfacing, priming, re-blocking, and finally spraying color and clear.
One door done.
Doors on and edged
Shaved, Primed and sealed. Ready for paint.
Filled some pin holes, reblocked and ready for base.
Base finished.
First day rolled out to breathe fresh air.

Fully assembled and back together.
Still needs to be cut and buffed. Just waiting on some more supplies and time. But so far I am pretty happy with it!

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
I would love to do other cars! I have so many guys I know from the shop and outside the shop that want things done but at the end of the day when its only me working on it and the amount of hours that have to be put in it would cost the customer not only an arm and a leg but when would I get to enjoy my own! lol
I actually do a lot of side work for free most of the time on bike tanks, fenders, hoods ect. I like to see people have nice things if I could do that one car/bike at a time I would!
Thanks for the complements! I figured I would shave the rest of my car since I shaved and smoothed the bay last year.

Emblems are easy as pie! Its the side markers, locks and the door handles that are tough to get straight. Red is forgiving, I have a black car too I know how you feel.

Looks great! I think you should have kept going with the shaved theme and got rid of the front emblem.

I tossed around the idea in my head for awhile. I decided to leave it and do a custom emblem. Not sure what its going to be yet, but it will be nice.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
On the bumpers You want to use evercoat tiger or kitty hair to do a bulk fill. Then you can use Evercoat poly flex on top.
On the side skirts you can use pretty much any heavy filler and any glaze on top because its just fiberglass, not plasic like the bumpers.
I did my rear bumper too

What a great paint job. Congrats!
Love the clean lines and I had thought about having the side markers shaved as well, but chickened out. Of course, after seeing how clean your car looks, I am having second thoughts now, especially since my car is at the painter's getting prepped for paint - LOL.
Anyway, love the way your car turned out!

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
Thanks guys! Door handles and rear bumper were the hardest parts to get straight. The side markers actually were fairly easy I had very little trouble with warping. I'm glad I did them but my favorite is the side GFX they just look so clean with no emblems.
I ordered some things so that I could fully cut and buff. 90% of the orange peel is in the doors. Some in the headlight buckets, and very little on the front fenders. The rest of the car is virtually peel free.

I have to crawl through the hatch.
Just kidding. I have a momentary switch hidden in the trunk area and I also have key fobs that do the same thing.

No kidding! I put almost 100 hours in with the filler, primer, blocking ect. I don't want to touch another piece of sand paper for a long time, I have no more fingerprints on my right hand!
I should be able to start cutting this week. I might set up my floor standing halogens and have at it over night through the weekend. I hate doing piece work, I like to have everything done at once.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
Most people do. I cant say I am a huge fan either but $200 for an immaculate barely used set of wheels, with tires I just couldn't pass it up. A member of the corvette community had them sitting in his garage since 2000 when he got aftermarkets on his C5. His wife was cleaning out the garage and wanted them gone.
I wanted wider wheels and better tires so thats what I got. I was quite pleased and I think I can pull them off lowered and with a slick paint job. Heck they look better on the camaro than they do on the vette.
I am currently playing phone tag with ADV1, and trying to get a set of these for my car in staggered 18" matte black.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of wagon wheels either, but your car pulls it off surprisingly well. Those new wheels would look great on your ride. I'd love to pull off the shaved look, but I suck at that stuff and body work isn't my fortay. I may give it a shot anyway.

looks great, my 92 RS is my regular commuter but when i get a 2nd car and start doing my body work it's definitely gonna be something like this. Did you ever contemplate shaving the gas door? What emblem are you going to use? i came across this one and its the one i'm gonna use.

I have a custom made billet emblem that I need to sell. When I bought my billet set he would not sell the package without, and I have not found a use for it. PM me if you interested. pretty cool looking.

Lol good luck with it when you get it. Thanks
I did contemplate shaving the gas door, but very briefly. I like the convenience of having the door on the outside of the vehicle. I have had my hatch struts go bad on me twice already and I don't want to have that be an issue at the pump. Didn't feel like routing the filler neck to behind the license plate either.
I'm also sumping my tank and running the lines differently ect...So I also didnt want to have an issue with the lines and the filler neck when it comes time for that.
Going to use a carbon fiber emblem, hopefully also getting a CF front bumper insert.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
Dropzone springs. Fronts I didn't touch, the rears had to be cut 1.25 coils each and removed the isolators. I cant go any lower with these springs without compromising drive-ability.
I haven't been able to get in touch with ADV1 but according to them they will make the wheels to fit any vehicle.
My wagon wheels look a bit different on my car because I cut and filed down the center cap/lug covers so they looked a whole lot nicer.

Very clean dude. It's all in the prep and you did your work and then some. I do think it needs the black around the headlights to break up all the red though, it's almost too much red.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
So I haven't posted in awhile because I haven't really done too much. Some minor engine work and reworked some of the fuel lines. I went with black nylon braided lines mated to hardlines under the car to the tank.
I was contacted back by ADV1 those specific wheels I wanted were 7500 shipped to my door. Which needless to say was a little out of my price range. I am exploring other options but for now the wagon wheels will be sticking around.
I also cut and buffed the car. Wet sanded then went with m105 with the rotary and wool pad. Then m105 orange pad, and m205 white pad on the DA. Also did a little detailing on the interior.
Some of the worst orange peel on the car before.
Then after..
I was missing a nose emblem before, I was going to go with stock but I liked this one. Its real carbon fiber not that that means anything, I just cant stand faux carbon fiber stick ons.
Swapped my rear control arms to founders tubular control arms.
Swapped out my old chrome valve covers with fabricated aluminum ones. Welded a filler bung on and cut a hole for a breather. Then painted them satin black and the filler cap gloss.
Because its aluminum I used a scuffpad and prepped the surface, then etched and prepped with ppg dx579 and primed with zinc chromate primer, before paint.
Thats where I am at for now...currently working on getting my tune right and its busting my a$$

I'm thinking about shaving handles before my Iroc vert goes to paint.... Been looking at door popper kits - what would you recommend ? There are a few kits out there on the market.
Thanks you did a super job, knowing how to paint and then wet sand/buff properly is a great think to know, not many can do it right.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
Thanks guys, theres a lot more to go. Ill add as it comes
The rails were done same way I did the body and everything else. Welded blanks in the holes and ground down smooth, then used heavy short strand fiberglass filler on anything that needed somewhat heavy filling, skimmed with lightweight and pinholes were filled with glaze. Then primed/sealed with evercoat feather fill G2
Products used were a mix of evercoat products, metal glaze, short strand, lightweight, glazing putty. As well as USC Duraglass and a few others I'm most likely forgetting about.
I never was a huge fan of the blacked out buckets. I can tell you right now I have no intentions on ever painting them black, but I may use some plasti-dip to entertain the idea.
I went with a VPA kit. Mainly because of the price and availability and reviews. I am not well versed in doing this kind of mod so I haven't messed with all of the other kits out there. You're right there are a bunch.
What I do know is my VPA kit installed very straightforward, not the easiest thing in the world to do, it requires some time and patience. I burned one of the solenoids out by hardwiring it to test without the relay, so if your planning on doing it in the future don't do that.
I have also heard great things about the electric life kit. That one was a little out of my price range at the time.

Sure, I will try to get some pictures in the next few days. I have to get in there a do a few things anyway. Theres not a whole lot I can show, and setup is going to vary car by car.
I used 6AN nylon braided line, and a mixture black/shadow hose ends and AN-NPT fittings to where it goes into my fuel pump which is NPT.
To connect to the hard lines I used an AN to tube fitting.

I never was a huge fan of the blacked out buckets. I can tell you right now I have no intentions on ever painting them black, but I may use some plasti-dip to entertain the idea.

Re: Some shots of my Camaro. Freshly Shaved and Painted finally.
I bought a Camaro that has the handles shaved, I'm having trouble getting the system to work properly.
Do you happen to know the wiring specifics? As in power to where, where to put relays, ect.
I really liked the idea, now its irritating the hell out of me.
