Re: Dyno Day!

With my long tube runner system back on the car I got 412rwhp and 416rwtq. I really like the "area" under the curve. It also made peak power at 6300 rpm and held on to around 6700 before the big drop off.

So I am going to up my shifts points to around 6500rpm so that the actual shifting should be all in by 6700rpm. Not bad for a TPI set up and an automatic transmission.

Congratulations to Vincent. Those were excellent numbers he put down. We also had a nice little ceremony in rememberance of Troy.

Re: Dyno Day!

Man what a day!
Congrats to Vince
We ran 8 cars across the dyno, some good, others will need some more hot rodding LOL

I didn't bring mine but seeing Vince's results confirms the fact that the new program us manual trans guys have now (the Corvette 350 chip) does seem to solve our problem of cutoff at 5700.
Vince's 388 made it all the way to 6000+
Luis got a free fix for his car as Mark donated a MAF to cure his problem. (imagine Mark had a third gen MAF)

It was great to see so many turn out for this event, hope everyone had a good time.

Cheers.....

Re: Dyno Day!

Thanks to all who was there to watch and cheer on this incredible task and event. Big thanks to Kevin for a great job with the tuning.
More power will be coming sometime early next year. Now I need to install a new 3 1/2in cat-back exhaust system for more power. I'm still running the 3in cat-back.

Now let's see how long can I keep the bragging rights!

GREAT JOB!!! Vince. You worked hard for a long time and deserve the results of that hard work.

A 3 1/2 " cat back will help a lot. Put a nitrous system on it and let it eat! solid 10 sec smog legal car!! Oh, your going to have to step up to a nine inch rear end and some slicks to hook that puppy up my friend. Grats on a great running car. you deserve and earned it!!!

Re: Dyno Day!

I'm pretty bummed.
I went from around 320 hp and almost 400 tq with the corvette heads and lt4 cam, to 295/320 with the new AFR 190 heads and a different cam, yesterday.

Hopefully the guys can help me figure out what went wrong.

Good job to everyone else though!

Hope we get another dyno day before the next time we race.

Edit:
I KNEW the bigger heads needed more air, and I should use something like a Super Ram... Eventually.
I'm just bummed that the base numbers went down instead of stayed the same.

If I recall, the people who ran similar sized heads, but with a Super Ram, got like 340 hp and like 350 tq.
So, it doesn't hurt as much...

Well Vincent you are right on that single 3" exhaust holding you back. The 3 1/2" will be a nice improvement.

Re: Dyno Day!

JulieGTA....what cam, how / to what specs (degreeing) was it installed? Also, did the new heads change (lower) the compression ratio?

If your mechanic is who I think he is, I'm sure the installation was correct...

But, negative stuff / dyno numbers happen to ALL of us.

Did you use the same intake as before? With TPI, the torque number doesn't seem right......maybe some mechanical issue?

Hang in there.....ask Santa for some more hot-rod funding; that's what I've been doing for years, and still haven't seen my junk run to its potential.

Bill

Nice dyno numbers.

What do you think it'll run at the track. Will it take down Allans GTA?

If I could get a decent 60ft, it shouldn't be a problem. Hopefully I can trapped 120+mph in the quarter. I wanna be like you when I get younger.

I can't remember anything about the cam. I didn't write down the specs anywhere. It wasn't anything custom, but it seemed to be within range for this setup.

Intake: I have a different base (Sorry Mike, I forget whose car it is in now) but the same runner setup as before.

The more I think about it, the more I convinced it just needs more air.

355cu to 388cu, max out port on the heads. It made 408whp/372wtq.

With that HP 120+ should be no problem. Those supercharged Cobras are going to be upset!!!

Never had a chance to run it in the quarter. Lost 3rd gear in the 1/8mi. So no really good times with the Miniram and it was never tuned for racing.

He should be able to take me down no problem if he can hook the car. However I have one more ace in the hole I will be working on for 2015 and maybe stay somewhat competitive.

Re: Dyno Day!

I never dyno'd my 400.

But my previous engine was a 383.
When I dyno'd it, it had the 280xfi cam, stock computer with a tune, 1 5/8 shortys with open exhaust, afr 195 eliminators, 52mm TB, 10.9 -1 compression, flat tops, and a stock LT1 intake.
It made 377rwhp.

My best 1/4 with 383 n/a was 12.09@110.5. (open exhaust)
My best 1/4 with 400 n/a was 12.11@111 thru the mufflers

Re: Dyno Day!

Vincent did good at 440 Rwhp. The way I see my old motor comparison 383 SR at 389rwhp 442rwtq.. Looks like Vincent made 17 more in power. Seems about right from a former 383 SR vs a 388 Mini Ram. More cubes more wins..
