Gettin' it together

Gettin' it together
I went out and bought a set of Blisten Shocks from Autozone. I paired them up with a set of Sportline Eibach Springs. Seems to be that everyone here is asking what's good and what works, I guess it might be a little too late for me to ask, since I already bought the parts. I plan to pair this together with my Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace. Anyone have any Experience/Knowledge regarding these parts?

Re: Gettin' it together
Haven't done the strut tower brace yet - but I love my Bilsteins and Eibachs! Although, I got the Eibach Pro Kit instead of the Sportlines. Since you'll have it all apart, I'd reccomend new sway bar bushings, end link bushings, tie rod ends and ball joints if it's not been done yet. I spent a whole day on mine, and replaced all these with the new springs and struts, and did poly bushings all around, and the difference was night and day!

Re: Gettin' it together
I replaced the Sway Bar End Links with a red set from Energy Suspension, How much should I tighten them??? (The book said 14lbs, the instructions said till they plump up) I also want to know what size sway bar I have, since I want to replace the sway bar bushings too. What is the Eibach Pro Kit? I heard there are a couple different Blisten Shocks for our cars, Anyone familiar??? Thanks to those who have helped me by answering my pesky questions.

2 ways to figure out the sway bar diameter. 1st an easiest buy a micrometer. 2nd way if you have a good set of over sized wrenches slide the wrench over till you find the right size.

Re: Gettin' it together
i have removed it both ways, probably want to have it up on jack stands, but with the rear tires still touching the ground, to keep it from moving around to much

I will be adding a UMI Chromoly Performance Pan Hard Bar. With Double Adjustable Ends and Rota Joints!
Still looking for the Torque Specs for my Sway Bar Endlinks?
Intrested to hear if anyone has run the Blisten Test/Heavy Duty?
Spring Rates for Stock, Sportlines, and Pro Kit?
Thank You. Have Good Day!

Re: Gettin' it together
Don't know about spring rates - sorry. Wanted to let you know I did install an Edelbrock STB, I could tell a difference with it. I'm carbed, and the Edelbrock was a decent 3-point piece for a carbed motor, plus I got it used and cheap.
That panhard bar you chose ought to be a nice piece - overkill for me though - too fancy and too many $$$. I'm running a Edelbrock adj panhard bar - only adjusts on one end, not sure why some bars adjust on both (seems like overkill to me) - but I've had no issues at all with my el-cheapo Edelbrock. I'm strictly street though - no racing here, just fun in the city, maybe the higher priced fancy schmancy bars are beneficial at the strip - all I know is my wallet enjoyed the savings, andf my bar works great on the street.

Re: Gettin' it together
My only complaint in regards to the Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace is the mounting points to the actual strut towers. I don't like the idea of having to drill the necessary holes. I prefer the the UMI Strut Tower Brace Design that incorporates the brace mounting points with the bolts used for the actual strut towers. It's adjustable too.

Re: Gettin' it together
If this is a street car send that bar back and use a V6 bar from a 4th gen.
Only use the fat rear bar if your ditching the front bar and going drag racing or are going to run a road course.
I run the little bar on the street and its sooo much better, no hoping around corners when you hit a bump..

Hey SixSeriesCSi.
Thanks for keeping this UMI thread going. Your car should be working pretty well with all these goodies.
We are working hard to finalize the new k-member. It's going to be pretty sweet.

Re: Gettin' it together
The first one shipped appeared to have some Defects in the Powder Coating. I think you guys do an Excellent job in Powder Coating your Products, because of that I didn't want to have a piece that didn't look as good as the others. (I believe I posted a reply to my first Return/Exchange Experience with UMI)

Re: Gettin' it together
what you get is not adjustability but abilitiy to run different springs to get to handle the way you want it, ajusting the ride height is a added bonus,
weight jacks are over kill for the street but then again a 300+ hp sbc or lsx swap is also and whats any fun if it isnt overkill but we really dont need it lol
but eibach springs will satisfy majority of people on the forum for street use i never was happy with sportlines and or dropzone/intrax or what ever new name they have now

Re: Gettin' it together
It would be quite a shame to throw all these components together and have a regular shock and spring combo... The plan is to eventually switch over to Weight Jacks and different Shocks with more adjustability. Initially, I'd wanted to go with coil overs but the front of our cars are not set up to handle that amount of weight without additional bracing.
