Idling trouble
Alright, the car (85 Z28 LG4) started right up before any disconnections. I was trying to time the car right (just replaced the distributor)
I unplugged the four pin connecter and tried to start.
I left a small vacuum line undone on the back of the carb, poping sound, fuel/air mix came out of that line, so after the engine died, I plugged it back in. The car would start, but only for a few seconds. Tried to keep the RPMs up a little bit, flame out through the carb.
Disconnected battery for a minute, hooked everything back up. Started. Car now idles at 2000 RPM and will not kick down.
What happened??

Also, now when I start it, there is a loud constant hissing sound that was not there before I detached the four pin connector

Re: Idling trouble
Sounds like you still have a vaccum line disconnected somewhere. If its been a while since the lines have been replaced, then you might have cracked one by accident while installing the new distributor.
Go back and inspect all the lines, and also check the carb to make sure you didnt leave one off.

Re: Idling trouble
it was running fine before I disconnected the Four Pin. That was with the new distributor. :-( Could it be something with the computer? Also, the choke on the carb kind of fell apart. This is probably part of the problem??
