Decent price for used rear end?

I'm looking to upgrade my drum brake rear end and found a disc rear end from a 1987 GTA (5.7L) for $100. Is that a good price to pay? Also what would the rear gears be?

I think the gears in my '85 T/A are 3.23, but I can't tell because my RPO stickers are missing and there's no tag on the diff.

If the mileage is lower on the car, and you can confirm that it is in good working order, I would say $100 is a good deal, but I would for sure take the rear cover off and make sure nothing is broken before considering buying it.

Yeah I'll definitely take off the cover to see what kind of shape it's in.

I mostly want it for the disc brakes though, so I could swap the gears from my car if it's totally trashed.

Re: Decent price for used rear end?

Rear disc brakes in an 87 are junk, but the mounting flange is the same as the good rear discs that came in later 3rd gens, early 4th gens. I think 87 would be a 26 spline axle as well, later year 28 spline axles are stronger. If you're going to pull the cover anyway you can figure out the gear ratio. Rear ends are cheap, try to get him down a little more.

I got a disc brake rear end for free for my car, I literally threw everything away & just used the housing.
